Dear Arnie,
I am former Sea Org and have been posting on xenu.net and, less frequently Ars, for about six months now. To cut a long story short, an OT public from my local org (Manchester UK), called around at my apartment yesterday, and "strongly advised" me to refrain from posting on critic sites ever again. He also brought the Ethics book around and said I would have to do the A to E steps, as I've been declared supressive. He said I have "no choice", I *have* to do those steps, and get back into good standing with Scientology, and go up the Bridge. He said "No one fucks with scientology!".
Do you think these are empty threats or should I be genuinely worried (which I am). Please reply.
Yours sincerely,
Neil Clark

that is a lie, as true as their promise of total freedom
I do... lawrence wollersheim does, brigitta dagnall does, joe
harrington did, Denns erlich did, Tory does, if 80 year old ida
camburn can do it for 35 years......
You should post this to the newsgroup......

You are SUPPOSED to be worried....
well, I've been at it for almost a decade and managed to survive...
How you choose to deal with the pattern of intimidation into silence is a decision only you can make
To be, or not to be, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
Or take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them.
Hamlet (III.i.64-86)
"Again and again I therefore admonish my students in Europe and America: Don't aim at success - the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side effect of one's personal dedication to to a cause greater than oneself.
Happiness must happen, and the same holds for success: you have to let it happen by not caring about it. I want you to listen to what you conscience commands you to do and go on to carry it out to the best of your knowledge. Then you will live to see that in the long-run - in the long-run, I say! - success will follow you precisely because you had forgotten to think about it."

You should write to him saying that he is no longer welcome to visit or telephone your home. You should also report what happened to the police saying you found the "general tone of the visit to be threatening" and that "while there is probably nothing they can do about a single visit, you want to lay down a marker against any such harassment in future."
If he engages in a course of persistent harassment e.g. by repeating the visits then make sure you log them, take a photo, or whatever, and you have grounds to make a criminal complaint.
If he visited in response to your querying the declare at his
place of business, to deliver the declare, then he can at least
argue that his visit was solicited by you. Best to make clear
in writing that future home visits are not wellcome, and that any
future deliveries you request should be made by royal mail or
courrier company.

>Recover?? What were you their priconer?? EEK
Staff, especially Sea Org, leave often enough that they have other staff with the assigned job of recovering those blown workers. They contact the recent and troubled ex staff member and try to convince them to come back. Dennis Erlich had this as one of his hats when he was in, and, at the time, was proud of his high recovery rate.
They get quite a few back. The conditions inside are horrible, but it's very hard to start a life outside the cult without knowing anyone else on the outside and having no money and possibly no job skills.
Some of the kids raised in the cult speak nothing but a jargon laden dialect barely intelligible to wogs and have trouble communicating.
Staff who leave without a support system are often subject to second thoughts when they realize how tought its going to be to make it on their own.
Also, the recovery staff will know about and push very powerful buttons like duty, altruism (gotta save the planet you know), fear (you're doomed for eternity of you don't go clear, can't do that without being in), friendship (you realize how much extra work you're dumping on all your friends on staff) etc.
