The Hon. FRANCA ARENA: Is the Leader of the House aware that a parliamentary commission in Belgium recently issued a report on cults, naming in particular Sukyo Mahikari, a Japanese-based sect with an Australian headquarters in Canberra, as the most dangerous, together with the Church of Scientology? Is the Minister concerned that these sects are doing great damage to the Australian community. Will the Minister consider a parliamentary inquiry into sects and their operation in this State? Will the Minister make representations to the Federal Treasurer to review the tax-free status that these organisations enjoy?
