I was stopped and sales-pitched by a recruiter outside the local org the other day. I'm surprised they haven't tried to bait me sooner, considering I walk past the org twice almost daily, walking to and from work. The brief conversational exchange was a bit on the amusing side, so I thought I'd share it with the community at large.
He started out by giving me a "free" movie pass (Do they ever charge for that movie?), then showed me a sample personality test graph and said something about this is a test that they offer, yadda yadda yadda. Then (this is my favorite part) he tells me, "I have to warn you, it's kind of dangerous. (No kidding, it might might turn me into a zombie slave.) Are you an adventurous person?"
It's obvious what answer he's baiting me for, so I give him the opposite response: No, I prefer living a safe, secure, boring life.
He had a confused look for a split second, then came back with, "Well, uh, it's not that dangerous."
It was hard to keep myself from laughing. I think he knew his sales pitch had been effectively destroyed at this point, because he didn't push the hard-sell when I told him I didn't have time to take the test (It might have been fun to take the test and toy with him some more, but I really didn't have time).
Cultists are an endless sort of entertainment. And here I thought they were trained to be good salespeople.
