I'd like to remind here the excellent text from Dr Hallahmi about integrity in NRMs research. Her one short passage:
"We may have to reconstruct our hierarchy of credibility (Becker, 1967). Recent and less recent NRM catastrophes help us realize that in every single case allegations by hostile outsiders and detractors have been closer to reality than any other accounts. Ever since the Jonestown tragedy, statements by ex-members turned out to be more accurate than those of apologists and NRM researchers. The reality revealed in file cases of People's Temple, Rajneesh International, Vajradhatu, the Nation of Yahweh, the Branch Davidians, the Faith Assembly, Aum Shinrykio, file Solar Temple, or Heaven's Gate is much more than unattractive; it is positively horrifying. In every case of NRM disasters over file past 50 years, starting with Krishna Venta (Beit-Hallahmi, 1993), we encounter a hidden world of madness and exploitation in a totalitarian, psychotic, group, whose reality is actually even worse than detractors' allegations."
The text is on http://home.worldnet.fr/gonnet/hallahmi.htm and is to be compared to http://home.worldnet.fr/gonnet/hadden.htm or, reversely, to the non-secrecy around the job done by Prof.
Stephen Kent: the fact that he was well paid for his job (and said that he was paid to do it) has launched a "scandalized"
sort of a reaction from herr doctor-at-law Massimo Introvigne http://www.cesnur.org who does not like that NRMs researchers opposed to his views could get some money and say it.
Just to remind: Introvigne did never sent his own accounts, did not disclose his own money sources. Stay tuned, i'd normally get some infos about it very soon. And Introvigne is no scholar in "NRMs", despite his evident knowledge of the prejudiced way to present crminal cults as NRMs.
And Introvigne does not hesitate to cut out parts of quotes that could destroy his views (see http://home.worldnet.fr/gonnet/apa-memos.htm>, or to take quotes from celebs and reverse them (see:
http://home.worldnet.fr/gonnet/jean-paul2.htm where he wrote that the Pope had qualified nazism and communism as religions.)
I'd like to read once a critical thought from his "sources" of "information".
