Here is the text of a flier I'm working on for the upcoming protest this weekend.
Corrections or comments are welcome. (This goes for Scientologists, too - if you see any inaccuracies, please let me know ... but please be so kind as to point me to evidence for your contradictory information. Thanks in advance!) I will try to have HTML, Word, and PDF formats posted to my web site by Friday, but I apologize if I'm not able to do so.
Thanks,
Kristi
LISA MCPHERSON-- ONE OF MANY MYSTERIOUS DEATHS
On December 5, 1995, Lisa McPherson died. Scientology had held her against
her will for 17 days. During that time, she tried to leave, became
violent, and refused to eat. At the time of her death, she had bruises and
abrasions on her body, and she had lost over 30 pounds in just 17 days.
Lisa was not the only Scientologist to die under disturbing and suspicious circumstances:
John Buchanan committed suicide in May, 1994, to escape the huge debts he had accrued to buy Scientology courses and materials.
Noah Lottick committed suicide in June, 1990, clutching his last few dollars, the only money he hadn't turned over to Scientology.
Patrice Vic committed suicide on March, 1988, after being pressured to pay for Scientology's Purification Rundown. Scientology executive Jean-Jacques Mazier was convicted of involuntary homicide. The court ruling said Vic had been subjected to psychological torture.
Rodney Rimando was just 21 when he jumped or fell from the roof of a Scientology building in Los Angeles on December 2, 1986. A forged suicide note was found. Scientology officials lied about Rodney's involvement in Scientology.
Susan Meister died on June 25, 1971, on board Scientology's ship Apollo. Scientologists called it a suicide, but her father believes photographs of her body prove otherwise--there were no powder burns on her head. When her father tried to learn more about his daughter's death, Scientology representatives threatened to smear Susan's reputation and her father's.
Many others, including Josephus Havenith, Bob Mills, Richard Collins,
Rudolf Willems, Karen Simon, Margarit Winkelmann, and Peter Frei, have
also died under mysterious circumstances
