Hi, Tigger, I drove up from New York and visited Tom Padgett in prison. He's healthy and his spirits were better after our visit. I can't go into a lot of detail right now but will later.

Here is what is important: We need money sent for bail. Five thousand dollars is needed. He won't be able to make personal phone calls for a week, (bureaucratic bullshit), in the meantime we're working on getting him legal counsel.

What you are seeing is the extent to which this destructive cult will go to prevent a father from having access to his children because this father rejected its absurd "philosophies" and despicable, inhumane practices against families. Here is a not atypical example of Keeping Scientology Working, in this case against the laws of this country where divorce is concerned.

These courts have failed in their duty to regard, first and foremost, the best interests of these children.

I am writing this letter to express my extreme outrage at the arrest of Tom Padgett. While it is in no way a reflection of any wrongdoing on the part of the State of Rhode Island, I must bring to your attention the fraud which underlies Mr. Padgett's recent arrest.

I, and numerous others, have been watching in horror as Mr. Padgett's saga has unfolded. It started out as a simple divorce case. Mr. Padgett's ex-wife is a Scientologist. Mr. Padgett became critical of the cult of Scientology and spoke out.

Since that time it has been war. Ms. Vannoy's family is allegedly friends with the judge in the case and Scientology lawyers have been manipulating that friendship. I became interested in this case about a year ago and wrote a fictionalized account of it entitled "Divorce Communist Style," available on-line at http://www.angelfire.com/scifi/Scientology. It would be too obvious if Mr. Padgett turned up dead, so Scientology lawyers have been manipulating this "friendly" judge in Madisonville, Kentucky to get Mr. Padgett behind bars. Mr. Padgett has a very valid concern that some "accident" could prematurely end his life behind bars.

The Padgett children have been used as pawns to harass and intimidate Mr. Padgett into silence. That failing, putting Mr. Padgett behind bars is the next best way to silence him.

You have in your custody a man guilty of practicing freedom of speech and speaking out against a subversive, mind-controlling, totalitarian organization known as Scientology. This is America and Americans have the right to practice free speech. Mr. Padgett has been found guilty and sentenced by the Court of Scientology, an anti-American, totalitarian organization that will not rest until it rules the world.

To execute that sentence, Scientology has been manipulating the judiciary and law enforcement in Madisonville, Kentucky, to carry out its edict. This is the sole basis underlying this arrest.

You may educate yourself as to the history of Mr. Padgett's troubles at the following internet websites:

Please do not release Tom Padgett into the custody of Kentucky law enforcement until you have investigated this matter thoroughly. You could be seriously endangering his life if you do so.

I just can't believe it. I feel like I have to do something, besides send a money order.

One of the problems with the cos is that it's just so unbelievable that I fear most people would say," Oh, that can't be right, that can't happen in the USA." Maybe Richard Beher (is that his name? the author of the infamous Time mag article) would do a follow-up article. Of course then there's the other problem- the personal terrorism policies of the cos. WEll, I'm really mad now. I have to do something.

Last week an individual by the name of Tom Padgett was arrested by local police within your state on charges that were FAXed to the local police by leaders of the notorious Scientology organization. Mr. Padgett had arrived at the Providence airport for scheduled visitation with his son when police arrested him on claims that he was wanted in the state of Kentucky -- which was false.

At issue has been Mr. Padgett's public exposures of the child abuse crimes which are rampant within the Scientology organization. His ex- wife -- a Scientologist -- was ordered to "disconnect," as Scientology calls it, from Mr. Padgett when Padgett's public discussions of past instances of Scientology child abuse couldn't be halted through threats and intimidation. Indeed, Mr. Padgett had put up a web site covering the abuse at http://www.taxexemptchildabuse.net/

Newspaper investigation and reporting of the incident of Mr. Padgett's arrest would very likely result in Scientology launching their notorious "Fair Game" racketeering activities against your office staff however I have some hopes that your offices will consider the newsworthiness of interviewing Mr. Padgett and reporting on what happened regardless of the retaliation and retributive actions Scientology is likely to conduct against your staff.

The telephone number for the facility where Mr. Padgett was taken is 401-462-2285. The FAX number for the facility is 401-462-5170. He's being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions facility at 40 Howard Avenue, Cranston, RI. 02920. He is apparently being held in cell number 121797. The Director who would approve reporter interviews is Mr. Al Bucci at 401-462-2261.

If your staff considers investigating the incident, I would hope that your offices also research Scientology's background on a written policy Scientology calls "Fair Game" first so that your staff will be aware of what Scientology will do to your people if you do in fact decide to publish a report on the incident.

The following telephone number is for Mr. Al Bucci who is the Director within the Rhode Island Adult Correctional facility.

His office is the one that is responsible for describing and apparently allowing for the interview of new prisoners by local newspapers and I have hopes that someone can telephone the Director, find out what the reporter requirements are, and then write to Providence Journal at pjnews@projo.com and to the Brown Daily Herald at news@browndailyherald.com offering the information -- and background into the Padgett racketeering case -- so that they (the reporters) can feel confident in knowing how the system works before going in.

People may not telephone Mr. Padgett however Mr. Padgett may make telephone calls to people if their numbers are on a list which Mr. Padgett must provide. Mr. Padgett would also have to make the telephone call collect and it may not be to a cell telephone. Getting telephone numbers _to_ Mr. Padgett so that he can know who to telephone is problematic -- someone from a.r.s who's in the area would have to collect people's numbers and then give them to Mr. Padgett directly along with date and time for contact.

Also the facility investigates the telephone numbers of the people on the telephone list and the facility records all of the telephone conversations not only to and from prisoners but of staff as well. I doubt that Scientology could racketeer the phone records out of the facility but one never knows.

Just like when I was jailed in Toronto, people may not telephone Tom, however Tom may make telephone calls to people if their numbers are on a list he provides (worse than Toronto). The telephone calls have to be collect and may not be to a cell phone. Getting telephone numbers *to* Tom so that he can know who to telephone is a problem, someone from a.r.s who's in the area would have to collect people's numbers and then give them to Tom directly along with times good to call.

Collect prison calls are expensive, but they are a sanity saving boon to talk to people outside of the madhouse. (A substantial fraction of the people in jails are mentally disturbed.)

Also I am told that the facility investigates the telephone numbers of the people on the telephone list and the facility records all of the telephone conversations not only to and from prisoners but of staff as well. I don't doubt that Scientology could racketeer the phone records since as I recall is it a scientology company that has a good part of the market for prison phones.

However, the subjects people would talk about with Tom are unlikely to be introduced in any court.

Tom Padgett news: Talked with Tom's family today. Tom will stay in R.I. custody and await his extradition hearing, which will occur on October 3rd in Rhode Island. At that time he will decide whether to fight extradition to Kentucky or agree to go back there.

Folks, I cannot reveal details of his current situation, been asked not to, and Tom will tell it all on this board after his release, probably sometime in October but I will attest to Tom's innocence and veracity.

I have seen up to date materials and talked with lawyers and I am convinced that this is a set-up; another round shot from the nasty litigating mothership, USS $cientology.

I'm still in New York but will make it back for the October 3rd hearing.
