I was working late at the Lisa McPherson Trust and Tom Padgett called. He said that he was sentenced today to 5 years in prison. He said that he was taken into the judges chambers and offered leniency if he signed papers that would gag his speech, which he refused to do. Tom said he had an attorney with him at sentencing.

Those would have been documents showing incontrovertible proof that he had paid. I don't care if he paid or not. We are not supposed to have debtors prisons in the United States and keeping a father in jail is not going to put any money in his childrens' pockets plus the arrearage just continues to build while he is in jail. Every study of the problem that looks at why fathers fail to pay says it is not because they are deadbeats, it's because they are dead broke. Fathers that are given access to their children by and large find a way to pay all or at least the great majority of what they owe. Regardless of that fact though, men are much more than frickin paychecks and wallets to their children. The courts needs to stop treating fathers as if they are nothing more than a bankroll. Fathers need their children. Children need their fathers. There are violent criminals walking our streets or getting pre-trail diversions while expensive space is taken up in this war on daddies. It simply must stop.

I don't want any harm come to me for my Mom and Dad's very big difference in scientology. I want to be protected from the very negative and harmfull policies of scientology. I want my Dad to be protected from these too. We want fair and equal treatment and WE WANT TO BE HEARD too. We want fair and equal treatment of my parents, our grandparents, our aunts and uncles, all of our relatives, family, friends, and all good, caring, and loving people. We have seen a picture of the spraypaint damage to his house in Michigan. We think the law should do something about this to stop it and protect him. If it hurts him it hurts us directly not indirectly. My Dad is not an "SP" or "PTS" in our minds and our hearts even though he may be a declared enemy of the scientology organization. We know our Mom to be a scientologist and our Dad to be ex-scientologist. He should not be punished for speaking out against these awfull policies to protect us and himself for now and the future. Boteler, Jr., and his appointed Special Domestic Master Commissioner, local attorney Harry S. Hinton, to recuse themselves as judicial fact-finders in Laura Padgett's divorce and custody litigation against her former 2D (husband in wog language,) on November 15, 1993. The arguments in re: the conflicts of the Judge were: 1. He was a friend of pro-SCN maternal family members. 2. Prior to his election as the current 4th Judicial Circuit Court Judge, Boteler was the protege of his predecessor Judge Tom Spain who moved on to the Kentucky Supreme Court. Judge Spain was a VERY close family friend of the Vannoys who support Dianetics and Scientology for their daughter Laura. 3. Judge Boteler confessed he also was a former employer of Laura Padgett's sister Ellen Vannoy Sloop. The arguments in re: conflicts of the Commissioner to hear the details of the case (see Paul Grosswald Affidavit,) was that his law partnership/practice was a tenant in commercial property owned by Laura Padgett's father Carl Vannoy and shared with his former insurance agency. A second motion was filed that day to have the Court require the custodial evaluator Dr. Nichols, who was chosen and appointed by Commissioner Hinton, to consult with experts in the field of cults and mind control. Padgett's legal counsel suggested the names of Dr. Paul Martin, Dr. Margaret Singer, and/or Dr. Jolyn West as consultants and servants for the Court. The Court DENIED and overruled both motions. These rulings of 5 ago become a life & death concern since Laura Padgett went before a grand jury in that same small town venue, to indict her ex for crimes of not providing proper financial support to her for their children. She wants the same judge to hear this case too! Padgett's counsel will again move for his recusal and the appointment of ONLY "expert" social or psychological behavioral scientists to be relied upon in this new case (see 1996/97 prior investigation by the Kentucky State Board of Psychology.) End. Perhaps not as profound as Letters from Birmingham Jail, but I admire the strength of Tom Padgett's convictions very much. ------------------ 8/15/00 Hey Rod, Jail sucks big time! It's really amazing! Here I sit... (1) "Isolated" (2) "Disconnected" from my kids (3) and the ultimate "Fair Game" application upon me. They (the cult and my LRH robot ex) think this will stop me! Actually it has strengthened and fortified my resolve to continue to expose the evil and corrupt nature of Co$ and this KY venue. I can't do it alone and for that, I continue to _thank_ you and others. Please report to a.r.s regulars I'm surviving and healthy but really _pissed off!_ My best, Tom

Can anyone help? Got the following: If there is anyway you can spread the word that Tom needs an Attorney that will take this case in the state of KY. ""A real go getter like "Jonnie Cochran" or someone equivalent. He needs to meet the appeal date which is just a few days, and at this point there is no one that will or can help. This is a desperate plea for help. He is still in the same facility as he has been for the last 2 weeks, but for how long we don't know. He does not have any visitors coming to see him, but is receiving mail from everywhere, and donations are starting to come in we've been told.
