A couple years ago I mailed Steve Dyer, a fairly well-known Usenet
authority on pharmacology, about the uses of hydroxyzine. He indicated
that as of 1986, it would be rare to use it as an anxiolytic or hypnotic,
as there were much better drugs available, and its primary use would be as
an antipruritic, i.e. to control intense itching.
Now there is anecdotal evidence that in his later years Hubbard frequently experienced parasitosis-the sensation of bugs crawling all over the skin.
It can be caused by chronic amphetamine abuse, something that Hubbard was no stranger to, and some speculate that the whole notion of Body Thetans was based on this. It seems to me that Occam's Razor says that Hubbard was taking the drug to relieve parasitosis and that he received it by injection rather than orally simply because he had trouble swallowing after his stroke.

Now 'yaba' a new drug more popular than heroin in parts of the Far East, is heading for Britain, amid warnings that it could supersede Ecstasy as the drug of choice for the country's clubbers.
The drug, which creates an intense hallucinogenic effect and can enable users to stay awake for days on end, was originally created by German chemists instructed by Adolf Hitler to find a stimulant that would help his soldiers to fight around the clock."
This uber-speed not only induces speed bugs, but it appears to have had a prior "underground scene" around LRH's time!
"The so-called Nazi method of making yaba was first noticed in Thailand more than 30 years ago. At the time it was legal and would be sold at petrol stations alongside soft drinks and cigarettes. Long-distance lorry drivers would pop the pills to help them work through the night.
Possession and supply of yaba was criminalised in 1970, but the market simply went underground."
Is it possible that LRH encountered this stuff? Did LRH and crew ever set sail for Thailand?
