Dear Roger:
Please forgive this intrusion but I have a matter that I want to bring to your attention.
Someone recently pointed me to a John Travolta web site. This is a nice glitzy site that is loaded with information and PR on Travolta. I have no quarrel with this. But I searched his site to see if, in fact, he was using this web site to shill for the Scientology cult. And I discovered that the web links on Travolta's web site link directly to a number of Scientology front groups.
His site has links to Narconon, Criminon, Applied Scholastics and a new one to me, "The Alley Foundation". The Alley Foundation turns out to be a Kirstie Alley-Church of Scientology front group. I am a former member of the Church of Scientology and I discovered the hard way that these groups are all devices to lure people into Scientology. Narconon has the trappings of a drug rehab program but in truth it is a front operation to lure people into this cult.
The same goes for the other front groups I mentioned.
I found, personally, that Scientology is a very devious, greedy and vicious cult which poses as a religion to get out of paying taxes. I vowed to do what I could to inform the public of the truth of this organization and I have found many other former members with the same idea. Scientology has a very slick and clever mind control methodology and I understand why travolta is doing what he is doing. But this does not excuse his using his celebrity status to lure unsuspecting people into this destructive group. I was lured into Scientology, in part, by another celebrity, Chick Corea, who was constantly shilling for this cult in every media interview.
Roger, I and others would like to inform the media press of what is going on here. I am writing to yourself and a few other film critics that I follow and respect. But I don't know how to go about informing the media press at large out there. If you have any ideas that would help and you would be willing to pass them on to me, please call me, email me or write to me.
The Church of Scientology is using its tax-exempt funds to finance these devious front groups and this is not right. Those of us who are trying to inform to public have no collective funds at all.
Thank you, Roger, for your time and consideration on this. The proliferation of destructive cults is one of the most serious problems in society today.
