At this URL, one can see a portion of the individuals who have signed the "Religious Freedom" petition. One of the signers is Richard DeWitt. Rick was the first boss I had back in 1974 when I started on staff at the Austin Org. At that time he was the Distribution Secretary.
After I left Scientology (15 yrs later) and moved from LA back to Texas, Rick was the sales person (FSM) who showed up at my house unannounced, in an (unsuccessful) attempt to get me to pay off my "freeloader debt", complete "lower conditions formulas" and to get "back on the bridge" (to total delusion).
I remember that day well. I had just recently moved into a new house. The morning Rick came to my house without notice, I was in my front yard doing gardening around an oak tree. As he approached me after getting out of his car, I asked him how he found me.
I had *just* moved into a new home and I had an unlisted telephone number, and I had not given Scientology notice of my new address or phone number.
Rick replied that he had a friend who worked in real estate and that
his friend had seen my name on a list of new home buyers! This is one
of the ways that Scientology's FSMs find "prospects" (persons who have
money).
