Having worked on staff at a Scientology Mission, I got to see a very deceptive side of Scientology which many member never get to see, and it ultimately lead me to conclude that there was something very wrong with it, but my journey towards discovery took me through some pretty strange experiences.
I remember one event which really got me questioning the whole thing, was when my friend Missy who worked on staff with me, claimed that Scientology counseling, also known as auditing, enabled her to leave her body any time she choose. I was rather impressed after hearing her tell me this, but I wanted to see an actual demonstration of her new ability my self, so I asked her to turn around and tell me how many fingers I was holding up, but after three failed attempts, it occurred to me, what ever they did to her in the auditing process, had not only failed to give her power to leave her body at will, but had made her delusional. Since I had just spent a good part of a year on staff, working long hours for poverty wages, You can't imagine how my head began questioning everything I had come to believe as a Scientologist, but having been forced to go through the Scientology ethics department for my previous doubts about Scientology, I knew it was best to keep my observations to my self, or they would try and make me feel as if something was wrong with me for doubting the effectiveness of Scientology, when in fact I had every right to question what I was seeing, but this is just one of many things I observed while working on staff in Scientology. It's hard to believe I had such a hard time leaving them after all I had seen, but I suppose it says something about my state of mind at that time. Dave
