Having been in Scientology for 30 years, and fought their weirdo concepts having to do with Medicine and illness, I can attest that they most certainly do practice Medicine without a license, and medical malpractice.

This started for me in 1971 while I was in what is known as the "Sea Org", short for Sea Organization. I had signed my billion year contract, and was excited to be a part of a group who was working to "Clear Planet Earth".

After being there for a short time, the medicine I was supposed to take ran out. Since when in the Sea Org you are only paid $25/week, I didn't have any money to buy this much needed medicine. So I asked for their help.

Low and behold, I was sent to the "MLO" which stands for "The medical Liaison Officer". What a bunch of *Crap* that is! Here was some young kid, with zero credentials in medicine, ordering me to stop taking my medicine.

Oh sure, he put me on some fancy nutritional program that "Adel Davis" had laid out. Did it work? Absolutely not.

Did Scientology do ~anything~to help? All they did was insist "your postulates are wrong" or "you need a PTS handling" etc. On and on and on...this went on for literally the entire 30 years I was "in".

I even fought this in 1989 when they tried to throw me off the Flag Land Base.(note: I found out after I left Scientology what the real reason for this was: Someone right before I had arrived had died at Flag, having the same medical condition I have, and having been taken off of the medication needed!) I insisted this was incorrect, and finally, after much discussion and refusal to give in, I asked that my folders be sent up to the top dogs, RTC. There, sure enough, after one month, the Senior Case Supervisor called the head technical person at Flag and told her to a) Call me and apologize
b) That I had a FULL Ok to do up through OT 8
C) That a Senior C/S Int Bulletin was written on this issue (Medicine) and that I was the first example in it.
D) They Crammed (corrected) the ENTIRE Technical Team at Flag on this issue.

You might look at this and say, "See...they changed", and yes, they did.

However, to have to fight as hard as I did, just for taking medicine that Doctors have told me to take every day of my life, is Medical Malpractice.

Also, having to fight hard to be able to take this much needed medicine and get auditing, when my Doctor (who was Gene Denk, LRH's Doctor) wrote to them and told them at Flag, "the medicine Tory is taking is NOT a mind altering drug, and she should be fine to take it and continue her auditing", is also medical malpractice.

They are not Doctors, yet were trying to insist what my Doctor said was not true. The Director of Processing of Flag told me, "Tory, you just don't know what is on OT 4 and OT 5". I told her, "I've listened to 'wins' from people on these levels for years, and most have to do with physical problems they have....so I know they deal with they body!" I finally asked her to show me the references, and one by one, they did not fit. It finally came down to one line in one HCOB that said,"On Upper OT levels a person should not be on medication". Well, since they had just decided OT 8 was the First OT level, and ALL others were "Pre-OT levels", I told her, "I think you (and all of the C/S's at Flag who were in on this) are misinterpreting what Hubbard said. If OT 8 is the first OT level, then he wasn't referring to OT 4 or 5, was he?

That's when I asked to have all of my folders sent up to RTC to be reviewed.

As a result of my getting this ironed out, a number of people were allowed to get their next auditing, my mother-in-law included (who they were insisting had to get off of her heart medication before she could go on the Freewinds Ship to do OT 8! She was 75 at the time. Can you imagine???)

I still meet families today whose children have a serious illness and they are supposed to take a medication to control it, yet because their children are in Scientology they are off of their much needed medication.

This goes all the way up, as OT 5-7 supposedly 'handles Physical Problems". I've yet to witness anyone really fixing ~any~ physical problems, despite hours and hours of auditing on these levels. If someone here reads this and thinks these levels fixed any physical problems, please post it here.

If you have a medical condition, please see your Doctor, and make sure he or she is NOT a Scientologist.

I have lost way too many friends who could have easily been saved had they not been filled with concepts like:

-They must "handle it"

-If they just get their postulates right, it will go away

-If they get the correct PTS Handling, their illness will stop

-They must disconnect from their mother/father/brother sister as Scientology promotes it is because of this "antagonistic person" that the Scientologist has physical problems.

- Dianetics or New Era Dianetics For OTs (NOTS) will handle any and all physical problems

These are just a few of the many horrible things Scientology runs on someone with a physical illness.

Now one last thing, I've noticed over they years they now have these signs ALL over their organizations, saying "Scientology is not to cure physical problems. If you have a physical illness, see a Doctor".

Sounds good, huh? The sad truth is they still, even with all the work I did to get these insane considerations fixed, Scientologists still feel physical Illness is caused by suppression or someone holding one down. Truly they do not believe a person can have an illness without the person causing it.

I'm not saying people do not have any causation in such matters, as that's not for me to decide. I am saying if a person is ordered by a doctor to take a medication that will help them, for Scientology to make the person feel guilty or wrong for doing so IS medical malpractice and is horrible.

If anyone needs me to speak to your family members who need to be taking medication and are trapped within Scientology, I will be happy to do so.
