Got this in the mail today...
Source, the magazine of the Flag Land Base, issue 132 (ca. mid Nov 2000) - some highlights:
- The cover! A shot of the Sandcastle (the OT courses building at Flag), with a giant OT logo floating in the sky above, and a monstrous flying object hovering above the water. Hard to tell what it is, but it most closely resembles a gold-painted overweight pterodactyl!
("Flag OTs - an endagered species" ??) - LRH article is "The Thetan, Games and OT":
"Just like a hockey player becomes his hockey stick, and then after a while of being the hockey stick, which controls at least a puck, becomes the hockey stick and the puck. And because these are both connected with the ice, winds up eventually a chunk of ice. This is a fact."
- Main feature is "Come to Flag Clear, Go home OT!". A series of pictures of a chunky readhead woman in lime green. One shows how she carries what I suppose are confidential OT materials in a metal briefcase locked with a chain around her wrist. (How inconvenient!
when she could simply put a bOrg CD in her pocket...) Mostly the usual empty PR lines. They say they have 31 Class IX auditors at Flag.
- Success stories, nothing special - More than 60 new NOTs auditors in training. Photos from the course room show an unusual crowd of middleaged to elderly students. (Have they been running one of those projects to recover old auditors?) - Article on the SP building.
"Flag Mecca expansion continues, with a bridge now being constructed to link it with the Fort Harrison Hotel"
"this bridge crossing Fort Harrison Avenue will ultimately provide the link that assures you a safe and distraction-free environment here at Flag when going from your hotel room to the course room or auditing room."
(and what could those distracting elements in the street be, one wonders? ;-)) - Article on "Celebrate literacy" luncheon held on Oct 23rd at the Hyatt Regency Tampa by non-profit organization Tampa Bay Reads, where Scientologist Louise Cornoyer received an award as Volunteer of the Year, and ex-boxing champ Tyrone Boozer who had learnt to read through Scio front World Literacy Crusade was awarded "Adult Learner of the Year". Scientologist Holly Haggerty, ED of World Literacy Crusade Pinellas County, recieved a grant. Awards were presented by Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
- Completions:
Placido Domingo Jr (son of the famous tenor) has completed Solo Auditor Course part one.
Craig Jensen (of Executive Software) did Professional Metering Course.
Brian Rakestraw, one of Lisa McPherson's former bosses at AMC Publishing, did the Solo Nots Auditor Certainty Course part two.

Thanksgiving is of course already passed, but I have to mention what Scientologists were recommended to do: spend the holiday at Flag doing the Havingness Rundown - auditing that "addresses the case barriers that block havingness and can give a willingess to "have" the rewards of production" (or: "makes you want to make more money" - why be thankful when you can be greedy...)

our hands."
"The idea that one can 'push' Scientology and get no penalty is a
false one." Russell Shaw

Scientology to harmful ends" (The original Code of a Scientologist)
