They really just don't get it. Several times, I've drifted away from
the battle, only to be brought _back_ by their actions against me.
I probably wouldn't have been here for long in the first place, since I think the people here are doing a fine job of exposing the abuses of the cult and I was never a member, but their attempts at intimidation from the first time I saw them convinced me to stay. The intimidation attempts purely give me more reason to stay. I can't go away and leave them with the impression that their harassment is a "good" thing for them to be doing. To do that would only encourage them to keep up the very abuses I object to in the first place.
One time, after I was away for a while, they illegally posed as San Jose Police investigating "a group they feared were going to be bombing churches" in PI calls to my ex. That brought me back.
Another time, they "revenge picketed" my home when I hadn't picketed them for some time.
If they had just left me alone, I would have left it to the rest of you out here long ago. As it is, I now have more threats against me if I go back to Hemet, so I'm stuck -- they're making me go back again. Even if it's inconvenient for me.
Harassment of critics is one of the major objections I have to this "church". If they would spend their efforts correcting the things that are wrong, rather than attempting to "shudder the critics into silence", they wouldn't have anywhere near as many critics, for both reasons.
On another note, Maggie's music is great, and she'll be missed if she can't make the concert. I don't see being able to get there in November anyway, but I hope the concert's great.
