Having defamed Jean-Luc Barbier, musician, composer and president of AVDS (Support Association for Scientology Victims) in an article in a Jura daily paper, the director of scientology has been charged with defamation.
The hearing will be on or about 26th May 2003 in Lausanne. The person concerned has already been sentenced to 10 days in prison (suspended) for a similar offence.
Reacting in its usual manner, scientology has made many counter complaints against AVDS, one specifically because AVDS has demanded scientology cease to harass and menace an ex-scientologist who has published her testimony in a book "Hell and the Cult" http://www.edcarte.ch , and who refuses to sell the copyright to the scientologists.
The cult has also contacted the president of AVDS' landlord to inquire what kind of friends the president has, and has sent two letters to the Swiss authorities to insinuate the president has received $30 000 to $50 000 from an American patron to destroy scientology.
