I mentioned in an earlier post that we've had at least one Scn in every showing of THE PROFIT. Each time, they come, they take head counts, make notes and leave about an hour to an hour and a half into the movie.

Tonight the "Head Count Robot" was a surprise. I recognized him as being quite active during production as one of the FaRTs that used to hang around the shooting locations handing out DA fliers (accusing Peter and I of being Nazis and KKK).

Since I became very familiar with his face during those many weeks of being hassled by the Scns, I decided to take the opportunity to speak with him while he was sitting there counting heads and taking notes before the movie started.

When I first approached him I told him that I was glad that so many Scns were coming to watch the film. He looked up and turned very red. I continued by saying: Look, we know that Scn has been sending at least one Scn per show to take head counts...is that why you're here?

FaRT: yes I thanked him for his honesty and asked him if he would please stay throughout the movie...that he might learn something. He just shook his head and said, "No, I don't know, no."

I then asked him what he'd been told about the movie. He said nothing.

I asked him why they were sending Scns to do head counts of our movie showings if they've made the claim that they plan to ignore it.

I also reminded him that he could report that we'd broken the house record for any movie that had played at that theatre.

I asked him to please stay throughout the entire film so that I could discuss it with him afterward. He just shrugged.

When the house lights went down he continued taking notes and turning around taking his head count.

Sure enough 1 hour and 20 minutes into the film, he got up and walked out. I happened to be in the lobby and I spoke to him as he left.

I asked him why he was leaving. He said it was boring. I reminded him that he might find the film more interesting if he would actually watch the movie instead of the audience.

I then told him: "Okay, tell your bosses. If they want to come and see THE PROFIT, they are welcome, but not to come and SPY on people. I reminded him that we have a lot of Scns coming to see the movie and I didn't want him or any of the other sock puppets to be reporting on them.

I asked him to please remind his "bosses" that if they continue spying on the theatre audience that I would go public with the fact that Scn is NOT ignoring the film...which of course would make them out to be liars.

He walked away into the darkness.....so we'll see.
