I think that the "Thursday Before 2 Stat Push" needs to be explained to new readers in this newsgroup.
In Scn cult organizations, the production is measured from week to week and reported to upper management. The stat "evolution" begins at 2 p.m. on Thursday. A sheet of paper called the OIC Stats is filled in with all the various numbers from the departments and sent to NY (on the east coast) and LA on the west coast. OIC is Organization Information Center and is an actual room where all the stats for an org are tacked the walls. There are over 100 stats that are tracked for each org and it is believed that the Key to Good Management is to micro-manage these stats.
The Office of Special Affairs (OSA) turns in their stats too. There must be a stat for number of evil SPs routed from internet newsgroups because the various cult operatives increase their postings in order to have "up stats"
by week ending. Unfortunately for Kind Readers, these postings take on the quality of letters written by staff and public who are forced to get the Letters Out stat up. It is called a Stat Push. These are low quality letters, like: "I see that you bought a book. Did you read it?" Or, "You haven't been in the org in 25 years. When are going to go Up the Bridge?" No important or interesting content, just a determined effort to jack up the #usenet postings to a.r.s. or whatever.
The OSA stat push postings usually target the perceived "enemy," such as Bob Minton or Psychiatry. Frankly I don't understand the Canadian ones at all, but Mr Hagglund (?) has certainly pissed off the OSA gang. Sadly, there are no Business Reply Envelopes to use for a return flow, but perhaps the new administration can pass a law requiring electronic BREs on all e-mail. Along with the modem tax and the back door into PGP.
Have a fun week and don't forget to write up your conditions.
