At the last minute someone asked for a picket today, so we did one.
There is something about auditor's day coming up, so another picket in order. Email for details.
We (Gregg, the unknown picketer and me) put in an hour and a half starting about 1 pm. As has become standard, people come up and tell tales about their experiences with the cult. One guy came by on a bike and related his experience from 8 years ago when he worked at the Money Mart. At that time the scns were wiring money by Western Union into Canada, $20,000 a day every day of the week. He had no idea of what they were up to but for an a number of months they were having someone pick up $20,000 a day for a week and then they would switch to another person. I asked him why and he didn't have a clue.
When we showed, they had their emeter show outside. That vanished inside in a few minutes.
Gregg reports that Andy Hill spent much of the picket sitting in the coffee shop across Mary St., probably with a camera. Gregg had someone come over and ask him to quit talking who claimed to be from an office across the street. Gregg told him he was pleased his voice carried that far.
It is still a mystery how to account for the 47 people they had in the house on Clinton. They don't to have that many staff. It is a real question what the heck they are doing with the rest of the space in the building. Perhaps there is some kind of people laundering going on. I have heard that a good fraction of the people in that house were not english speakers.
Gregg got a story from someone who had been on staff in the heyday of scn in Toronto. They had 25 people in a one bedroom apartment! (Hot bunking in an 8 hour rotation.) That crew had so many electrical things plugged in that they blew the fuse. They replaced the fuse with a penny and started a fire in one of the walls which went out when they pulled the penny out of the fuse box.
The org staffers hacked a hole in the wall and fixed the wiring by twisting in a splice. Later they ran exposed wiring all over the place from the fuse box, stapling the wires to the walls and nailing boxes for the plugs on the walls.
The landlord had shut off the heat in an effort to evict them for having too many people there. So they were running heaters all over the place. Eventually they were evicted and moved to a 2 bedroom apartment where there scn stuffed 30 people.
We gave away 100 Parsonage flyers (ran out) and about twice that number of Xenu flyers. A number of the people who took the "Parsonage" flyer promised to call:
MPAC Head Office:
1305 Pickering Parkway Pickering ON L1V 3P2 1-866-296-MPAC (6722)
and ask why scientology, which is not a religion, in fact, not even a charity gets a $105,000 tax break by calling an 8 story office building a "parsonage."
If any of you call these tax people, please post what you hear from them.
Good picket.
