Further to an earlier Thread here, I checked with the Census Customer Services and they have confirmed to me that this page:
http://www.webeye.myby.co.uk/census.html
is genuine data. The site owner has since added a source acknowledgement page. Mr Gilbert, I hope I didn't get you into trouble...
This is really a bit naughty of the Census people, who in typical civil servant fashion probably have lots of data that is available if you know what to ask for, but they ain't about to advertise it.
This otherwise compulsory UK census had a voluntary question "What is your religion?" with boxes to tick (Christian, Muslim, etc) plus a write in option. This is the first time a religious affiliation question has been asked. The table has data for England and Wales only, please do NOT quote this as UK data as it excludes Scotland and Northern Ireland. Scotland has one Org in Edinburgh, Northern Ireland none.
52,041,908 responses were received. I would assume all Scientologists (TM) diligently did their write in! Stats up...
The 'Scientology' results were
East England 72 East Midlands 36 London 262 North East 59 North West 109 South East 928 South West 144 Wales 24 West Midlands 99 Yorkshire Humberside 48
Total 1781
ASO St Hill is in the South East region.
If this was an opinion poll the error would be 2.4%.
I have no idea how many Freezoners are included :-).
The CoS normally claims to have 15,000 members in the UK. The ratio of imaginary to actual scientologists seems to be in line with other data I have.
This is true.
