A core belief of Scientology is the concept that people create their own realities. That means, from the Scientology view of the world, the reason you don't fall on your butt right now is that you are subconsciously postulating that your chair is keeping you from doing so. The chair, in the Scientology mindset, is real because it is real for you. But even if you don't know it's real, Scientology's empirical proof lies in the fact that you have not yet landed on your butt, therefore you must be doing something to make it so. This is a group mindset in which adherents are blindly drilled. The technique is to tell the adherents that postulating everything they see makes them at cause over the physical universe.

There is more than one drawback to that technique, though. People who immerse themselves in the tech can be taken advantage of and hurt in unexpected ways.

For instance, a Scientologist walks down the street and sees the words, "Truth is Free." From the Scientology point of view, those words could not have appeared unless they, the practicing Scientologists, had done something to put those words there. A postulate, conscious or otherwise, must have put thoses words into the Scientologist's reality.

Now Scientologists know very well that they are handing over a major portion of their life's sustenance to obtain what they believe to be "truth." But due to the mandatory aforementioned mindset, they must have done something to make the words "Truth is Free" appear. The analytical part of their mind realizes something does not compute. If they can't rationalize the contrast by using Scientology "tech", then the tech dictates that they go into a "spin."

According to the program, loyal Scientologists who can't make the "tech"

work always follow a stable datum: they have to do something stupid, like get sick or have an accident. They may even end up punishing themselves yet a second time with squirreled ethics. People, however, are not "cured" of stupidity by punishment; punishment has more of a tendency to fixate people on the things which they are being punished for, making them even more stupid.

These components are assembled by corporate Scientology to build very effective bombs of self-destruction. The bombs go off one at a time, making it impossible for standard Scientologists to communicate with fellow free Scientologists on alt.religion.scientology, and destroying standard Scientology along the way. You know standard Scientology is being destroyed when you have been told you may not communicate with former Scientologists. (Word-clear the ability to be gained in Grade 0.)
