Keep talking
Editor: Re: On Scientology, Aug. 15.
I applaud Margery Wakefield for having the courage to come forward with her story despite the court order. Her analogy was perfect. I have felt from the beginning that the real crime was making her keep quiet while the Scientologists lure more and more people into their "-web" every day. As a matter of fact, all she really has to do is recommend to everyone she meets to read the book L. Ron Hubbard: Madman or Messiah? written by his own son, Ron Hubbard Jr. and ex-scientologist Brent Corydon. I picked it up at the library out of curiosity and read it cover-to-cover in a day. I find it incredible that Scientology still exists after this excellent expose was published. (Of course, the Scientologists blocked its publication as long as they possibly could but, thank goodness, did not succeed in the end.) I recommend it to anyone with even the slightest interest in the subject. In fact, I think it should be required reading.
After reading the book, then turn on Vision Cable Channel 9 on a Monday night at 9 p. m. to get a look at the man himself, L. Ron
Hubbard. Listen to him for 10 minutes and see if you can make sense out of anything he says. The show i s a joke (in my op i n i on of course), but I guess if you have enough money you can get anything on the air.
What's really scary is that the worldwide headquarters is right smack in the middle of Clearwater.
So, keep talking, Margery, if you save one person from this farce it will be worth it. And to everyone else I say: Listen to Ms. Wakefield and please, please take her seriously, because the Scientologists are hoping you won"t.
