http://www.hollywoodinterrupted.com/archives/when_scientology_attacks.phtml WHEN SCIENTOLOGY ATTACKS - April 24, 2006
Here's a shocker:
Scientology is up to their old "fair game" tactics again. For the uninitiated, "fair game" is a policy developed be the deceased madman L Ron Hubbard whereby the cult launches "noisy investigations" to intimidate, harass and attack their enemies.
Last week, a colleague of mine covering the "TomKat" baby affair pulled into the Celebrity Centre in Hollywood and was promptly surrounded by shreiking, sailor-suited Scientology swabbies. The Centre is open to the public, but they kicked him out. When he returned the next day, he witnessed one of the staffers papering flyers on automobiles (including his) parked on the public street outside the Centre. The flyer he grabbed from his windshield had his photo on it, with a bold caption reading: PEDOPHILE.
I will post the offending flyer as soon as my colleague sends it on, but in the meantime, enjoy my latest "fair game" folly...
I recently received a comment to my message board inviting readers to check out "the truth about Mark Ebner" from a woman I’d tangled with many years ago on the anti-Scientology newsgroup alt.religion.scientology. Her comment linked to a webpage attempting to defame me on an ISP http://www.thunderstar.net/ owned and operated by a high level Scientologist named Andrew Hoare. Ironically, the criminal mind control cult of Scientology will not even stoop to recognizing this very disturbed woman as a member, but - by endorsing and publishing her - Mr. Hoare is actively trying to "dead agent" me. For those unfamiliar with Scientology’s "dead agent" practice, allow me to define it:
From http://www.xenu.net/archive/dictionary/:
D/A, verb. Dead Agent; to spread malicious lies and rumors about an Anti-Scientologist person or organization, in an attempt to so thoroughly discredit them that everyone concerned will be disgusted with them, and not listen to the information they have to give about the cult.
I deleted Ms. Schwarz’s comment, and decided to do her one better. Here is her partially accurate, yet contextually skewed and ultimately defamatory diatribe:
Mark Ebner's idea of Freedom of Speech
"Who gives a flying fuck? You are a living breathing argument for forced Thorazine therapy, 4-point restraints and a ball-gag." -- Mark C. Ebner
Just who is Mark C. Ebner?
Born in Rhode Island in 1959, Mark Ebner majored inacting while he attended Bard College, a small liberal arts college in Annadale-on-the-Hudson, New York. While at college, Ebner was the editor for a college newspaper and barely survived an attempt to get him removed from that position because of the bad job he was doing. This was premonition of things to come.
A Failed Actor?
The young Ebner was an aspiring actor seekingsuccess in Hollywood, and in the early 1980s, he moved west, not to Beverly Hills or even Santa Monica, but into accommodations, more exemplifying of his low self-esteem. Of limited means and talent, his first house in California appears to be nothing more than a shack in a low-income neighborhood.
Failed Reporter?
Unable to gain even minor success as an actor, Ebner embarked on another ill-fated career, this time as a reporter. Lazy by nature, Ebner became a bottom feeder in the food chain of journalism, drifting from one low-end publication to the next, sometimes working freelance. Reading the opening lines of one article that Ebner wrote in 1996, one can sympathize with his editors and understand why he had a hard time holding down job:
"I am an ex-drug addict who has solicited prostitutes in my day. I've also masturbated and inhaled at the same time, and I have been arrested more than once in my life. I dropped out of high school, and I've been under psychiatric care. Oh yeah, and I owe the IRS roughly six thousand dollars that they are well aware of." - Mark Ebner
Whether Ebner was spending all his money on prostitutes and drugs or wasting the day masturbating, the result was that Ebner was unable to hold a steady reporting job and went bankrupt in 1995 as he could not seem to make enough money to make ends meet.
At a low point in his life and lacking the cajones to do a legitimate job of reporting, Ebner decided to infiltrate a Church and report his experiences. Soon after, Ebner was apparently fired from Spy Magazine.
Ebner then got a major break and landed a reporting job with Rolling Stone. Things were looking up and Ebner moved into a more upscale locale in Venice, however, the magazine soon learned that Ebner lacked enough journalistic ethics to suit their standards and let him go nearly as fast as they hired him. To this day Ebner cannot understand what he did that got him fired but he has made up all sorts of excuses to explain his failure and inadequacy as a reporter.
Ebner has had articles in several other lowbrow publications and perhaps not coincidentally, they rapidly shut down - such as New Times (LA) and most recently Radar Magazine.
After years of kicking around, to everyone's amazement Ebner actually landed a book contract and in about 2004 and co-authored a book about Hollywood. It seemed as though Ebner had finally made it, if he could not be an actor, he could certainly write about them. All he had to do was produce a good read that would sell. But once again Ebner could not contain himself and instead of giving a balanced view, Ebner allowed the bitterness over his failure as an actor to re-surface and he wrote one of the worst, one-sided, critical and downright hostile accounts about celebrities and Hollywood. Here is what publisher's weekly had to say:
"This diatribe is so unrelentingly negative that it loses all power to persuade... Most of the gossip isn't new... and without any illuminating backstories, this is a sour and joyless read." -- Publishers Weekly
Soon after the book's failure, Ebner appears to have left Los Angeles disgusted with how badly his book had been received by readers and critics alike.
Recently, Ebner has started a new career, this time apparently as a gossip blogger. There does not appear to be much money in this line of work either and Ebner apparently now lives in his 1974 VW Van, http://www.hollywoodinterrupted.com/schwarz/ebner_files/apartment01.jpg Photo2, http://www.hollywoodinterrupted.com/schwarz/ebner_files/apartment02.jpg Photo3, http://www.hollywoodinterrupted.com/schwarz/ebner_files/apartment03.jpg Photo4, http://www.hollywoodinterrupted.com/schwarz/ebner_files/apartment04.jpg Photo5 http://www.hollywoodinterrupted.com/schwarz/ebner_files/apartmet05.jpg (cont) when he is not living off his friends. This must be how a successful gossip reporter lives when he has not achieved a level of success where he is receiving kickbacks, accepting bribes and extorting gossip victims.
Note: This smear campaign does not warrant a rebuttal. I’ve always believed that full disclosure is the best defense against attacks like this is. For now, I’ll let my national journalism awards and New York Times/Los Angeles Times best-seller do the talking for me while I introduce you to…
...The glamorous face of the new era Scientology operative:
Barbara Schwarz
From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbara_Schwartz
Barbara Schwarz, née Bretschneider, is a German expatriate now living in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the president of the German branch of the Church of Scientology from August 3, 1983 until July 10, 1984. [1] http://www.ingo-heinemann.de/vereinsregister6322-1r.gif Schwarz is no longer active in the Church of Scientology (she states that she was "kicked out" in 1984 [2]), http://groups.google.com/group/alt.self-improve/msg/e1ccfe6721ab7a7f?q=kicked+out+%22Barbara+Schwarz%22+Horst+Niesel but she still considers herself a Scientologist, if no longer officially a member of the Church, and despite having filed frivolous lawsuits against the church.
Schwarz is principally known as the current holder of the record for most requests filed by a single individual under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Schwarz has submitted thousands of FOIA requests to the United States government and its various federal agencies. There are extensive records at each agency documenting these requests, which list thousands of hours and thousands of dollars spent processing these requests. The U.S. Department of Defense has finally made a ruling barring Schwarz from filing any further FOIA requests until she pays for her prior requests. (Schwarz often claims indigency to get fee waivers.)
Many of these FOIA requests attempt to substantiate her claims that she is the granddaughter of President Dwight D. Eisenhower and the daughter of Church of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, that she lived in a secret submarine base under the Great Salt Lake (until age four), that she was kidnapped as a child by Nazis and taken to Germany, and that her alleged husband Mark "Marty" Rathbun, who she alleges is the secret heir to the Rothschild fortune, was wrongfully arrested in Madrid, Spain in 1988 and taken to the United States, where she believes he is secretly being held. (Mark Rathbun was a high official with the Church of Scientology's Religious Technology Center for many years until September, 2005. A church official has stated that Mr. Rathbun has no knowledge of Schwarz and cannot explain her behaviour.)
Usenet history
Besides her frequent FOIA requests, Schwarz posts regularly to the Usenet newsgroup alt.religion.scientology. Her posts are sometimes in defense of the Church of Scientology, but other times she insists that while the church's "technology" (Hubbard's teachings) is effective, the current hierarchy of the church is corrupt, due to "infiltration" by non-Scientologists. Other posts have recounted her travels during the 1980s and how she was arrested on various occasions, including for illegally entering the White House, and twice confined to a mental health hospital in the U.S. and once in Germany. According to Schwarz, these events were the result of a conspiracy by a group called the "Still Existing German Nazi Psychiatrists' Mindcontroller Secret Service" (SEGNPMSS)." [7] http://groups.google.com/group/alt.religion.scientology/msg/273bac7e8035586b
Barbara Schwarz frequently posted to Usenet from the Salt Lake City Public Library. On October 21, 2005, Salt Lake City Library Director Nancy Tessman permanently terminated her privileges to use their computers due to her repeated spamming of Usenet.

Congratulations Barbara - you’ve finally found your deserved place in Scientology’s failed master plan to silence their critics.
