Now then <smile> LOL Sometimes things work out really well. As luck would have it, one of these ads appeared almost directly next to an ad put out by the small org here.
Pretty much these ads, ads like these, when done by critics, are done for the cheapest price possible. And we are not fussy where the ads appear. They could be next to 'free sex' ads, next to 'meet your dream mate' ads, next to anything at all. With us critics, some or most of us, placing an ad like this is just an extra something we do.
So we save money at it whenever we can, we do it the cheapest possible way usually.
And when we do this, when we take the cheapest path possible, well we have to expect our ads to end up next to an Official Scientology Advertisement. LOL
And my apologies, I had understood these ads to be ads for XENU, the bastard who gave scientologists BT's that won't go away.
Instead they are ads for a most remarkable web site:
www.xenu.net
The ad copy is done by, and the money for the ads is paid by a lurker to this NG. My only task in all of this is to follow e-mail instructions, and then to web the stuff. And while I follow e-mail instructions pretty good, I'm not sure I've kept up with the total number of these ads that were placed. I believe more than three distinct ads have been placed already.
This htm file:

The author of the ad said in e-mail, "the CC must be fuming."
And they probably are upset by the way this worked out.
But what people may not realize, is that I had to scan this stuff in.
So what does that mean exactly?
That means I had to open this cheaply made "newspaper", turn the pages and find the ads. And my hands got filthy of course, had to wash them. This ~is~ a really cheaply made thing, this Nifty Nickel.
Cheap ink, cheap paper, cheap cheap cheap.
But it is Free. It sits there in convience-stores, sometimes in a supermarket, and on the street in little boxes next to publications like, 'sexy showgirls direct to you.'
It is free and it is over 40 pages of little advertisements. Ads for cars, computers, furniture, whatever.
But what really gets me, what is really profound here, is that a Scientology Celebrity Centre advertises in a publication like this.
Las Vegas Nevada is called the Entertainment Capital of the World.
Now that is a bold claim to make, and it might even be true. And if it is not true, it is certainly close to the truth. And in this unique city, there is a Scientology Celebrity Centre. And this Celebrity Centre (CC), advertises in one of the cheapest publications possible.
There is Free advertisement, and there is the next step up from that, the Nifty Nickel. And they advertise in the Nifty Nickel.
For who? Who is it they hope to reach? Perhaps the Able and Successful entertainer? Well those people wouldn't read this newspaper. This is all used items at bargain prices.
...this is all drifting away...
The important thing is this - how pathetic The Church of Scientology actually is. And they are quite pathetic.
This is a Celebrity Centre dammit, located in the Entertainment Capital of the World. And they advertise in the cheapest of publications.
And this, this garbage, is what they have to show for over 30 years of Unparalleled Expansion in this city.
And this is pathetic.
Now somebody wants to have some fun with them, call the number, 702-366-0818, tell them you saw their ad in the Nifty Nickel and that is why you are calling. Tell them you thought it was a great ad, short and informative and that it made you curious for more information. And then ask them what else they can tell you about that url for xenu.net.
Yeah, have some fun with them.
Let them know advertising works.
