Operation Clambake Forum: Opinions & Debate: The CCHR complaint against Andrea Yates' psychiatrist - what hypocrisy!
----------------------------------------------
By Judith Anderson on Monday, April 15, 2002 - 04:32 am:
Read this in the latest ARS week in review. I am not quarreling with the possibility of neglect, medical or otherwise, including Yates' husband's dismal failure to recognize the danger signs during his wife's descent into madness - my God, the woman was a walking zombie just before she killed her kids.
What I am taking exception to is Scientology's hypocritical intervention in this case. And I am speaking from experience.
CCHR accuses Dr. Saeed of not properly managing Yates' medication and OF RELEASING HER FROM THE HOSPITAL WHEN SHE WAS DANGEROUSLY DELUSIONAL.
But that is exactly what they did to one of my family members, a non-Scientologist by the way, so they couldn't use religion as an excuse. They released her from an area psychiatric hospital against medical advice, discarded her medications and placed her with an unsuspecting woman from South America, never telling this lady about my relative's past history.
When her behaviors grew out of control and the lady from S.A complained, the Scientologists' answer was: "Oh, it's nothing, just cultural differences." It got so bad that the woman became afraid and demanded her removal.
By the time I intervened, she was left alone, and was experiencing auditory and visual hallucinations (visual is rare) delusions and command hallucinations. It took months to turn her back around after we got her back into psychiatric care.
The Church of Scientology is on shaky ground indeed, accusing a psychiatrist of medical neglect while the McPherson civil case still looms. I shudder to think that my relative could have met a similar fate if we had not intervened, not nearly as horrible as what happened to McPherson, but harm could have befallen her, because CoS had her released AMA, just as they are now accusing Yates' psychiatrist of doing.
They are just capitalizing on the Yates case like they did with Ground Zero.
P.S. I don't care how many of you anal-retentive osa prigs read this post. You will be greatly outnumbered by all of the objective critics who visit each day. I hope it gives some of them pause. I believe that they will recognize it for the truth.
