Who would like to talk about Freedom of religion and the First Amendment? I am doing a paper for school and need opinions (from all sides) Any info or opinions I am interested in on all Religions etc...Thanks. Paper is due Tuesday May 2nd...
rainbowlady gave this response on 4/28/2000:
Religion is defined as the attitudes, emotions, behavior, etc. that constitutes man's interaction with the powers and principles of the universe, esp. with regards to a deity or deities. So religion does not have to revolve around God, since everyone has a religion-- or a guiding principle in their life.
Religion is what defines our morality, and therefore, any law that deals with issues of morality (such as drug use, prostitution, etc.) is, IMHO, unconstitutional because for some religions, these things may not be a sin.
I could do tons more on this topic, as I'm getting ready to file a lawsuit agains the state of PA for violating my religious freedom by refusing me the right to legally marry my wife, so it's something I'm very much up on...but I have to run and take my kids to their fathers....
