Since religion seems to be more of an overt factor in politics as well as other aspects of our lives than before, I would welcome any and all views, including the reasoning that supports those views, in the question, "If Jesus was to vote in the next election would he be a Democrat or a Republican?".

If there was a Jesus it was the jesus that stormed the temple and waited for God to bring the last days. That would make him a Theocrat: God rules through the one God chooses. If the question is which party represents what the authentic Jesus would say if he were speaking today, any answer will only be self-serving. We will find the Jesus we want in the Gospels and have him speak up for out side. I find the idea that Jesus was an advocate of small government, against the redistribution of wealth by the government, and leaving all social problems to private resources absurd. The people who believe that would find absurd what I think are the true spirit Jesus: Give all you have to the poor and come follow me; render unto Ceasar the things that are Ceasars; whatever you do to the least of these you do do me.
