How come christians have churches have such an easy time receiving government funding but other churches of less popular religions, can not get one cent?

Greetings!
This is a question that has confused people since this country was founded.
It seems to me that the reason for this derives from the old "majority rules" statement. The majority of America claims to be christian, therefore the government finds it more beneficial to fund religions of a christian basis. This will keep the majority of people in those religions coming back to vote for them time and again.
It is along the same basis that there "must be a separation of church and state," yet the majority of polling places on election day are churches?! Ironic, isn't it.
