i received the following email fwd. the other day and i'm questioning its validity:
Can you imagine working at the following Company? It has a little over 500 employees with the following statistics:
29 have been accused of spousal abuse 7 have been arrested for fraud 19 have been accused of writing bad checks 117 have bankrupted at least two businesses 3 have been arrested for assault 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges 8 have been arrested for shoplifting 21 are current defendants in lawsuits
In 1998 alone, 84 were stopped for drunk driving
Can you guess which organization this is?
It's the 535 members of your United States Congress. The same group that perpetually cranks out hundreds upon hundreds of new laws designed to keep the rest of us in line.
so like i say, i'm questioning it's validity, got any suggestions?

I started to decline this because I really don't have an answer for you. While we would think that all this information would be public knowlege we just do not have open access to all of it without writing 100's or thousands of letters to diffrent agency.
I will assume that some members would be quilty of all.
on defendants in lawsuits, that is not uncommon anyone with money or in business will be in law suits some time, One of my churches got sued by the man who mows, he fell off the mower and was hurt, he sued because no seat belt on the mower, ( he won )
most of these people have been business people, consider President Lincoln, almost all of his businesses went under, so yes since most business do fail and most of these people were business people, that is believeable
some of the other is hard to believe, it might be worth making a copy of the email and sending to many of the different news people, both local, and national, they might pick it up and they would have the ways to get this information.
And of course hoping you have a good Congressmen in office, call his office and ask, then mail it to serveral. Might be interesting to see if you get a response and if you do what it is.
But no their is not an employment application they must file, or a required background check. if this is true, many would not even be able to hold a regular federal job if not elected.
