A usenet newsgroup is a unique publication, in that it is an *ongoing* discussion of the subject. Comments, allegations, excerpts, documents, *AND FOLLOWUPS TO THEM* flow along in succession as the discussion progresses. One can place something into the newsgroup simply to have it commented upon by others. For example a complete poem, seperately copyrighted by an author, could be posted verbatum by one person, and commented on by another later that week.
