The press, the judicial system and the public are beginning to get the idea that scientology isn't the quirky, benign, science-fiction, new-age religion it could once, at best, have been considered, but rather a criminal conspiracy designed to perpetuate a supremacist pyramid scheme. The cult's history of fraudulent, illegal dealings with the government, the public and its clients have now been well documented in the press and in court. It is only appropriate to inForm those still in scientology what specific changes need to be made for society to quit "harassing and persecuting" this poor, defenseless, helpful, self-betterment organization. REFORMS REQUIRED The following are the changes required in the "church" of scientology for it to be considered a *legitimate* business: 1) Submit the organization of scientology to a voluntary receivership made up of a committee of mental health professionals, financial officers of legitimate charities, civil rights lawyers, and experienced current and former members, for a period of two years. During this period, the following programs are to be monitored, examined and administered by the committee. 2) Make a written public admission in a series of fully paid ads in USA TODAY that duplicates in length and extent the "BLACK PR CAMPAIGN" it ran in 1991, of the fact that scientology is not and has never been a religion, and quit hiding its true operations behind the cloak of the rights of legitimate churches. 3) License and register its practitioners as therapists and assume the appropriate responsibilities expected of any other alternative psychotherapy method, by being accountable to its clients and to society. 4) Disclose and allow examination of its finances and assets, including all investments, holdings and properties. 5) Cease the fraudulent lack of disclosure to the public of what, exactly, the practices and methods of scientology involve. The full public disclosure of practices should include admission of the use of trance-induction, exorcism and forced labor, each of which is embraced in the application of scientology. 6) Return to its members their constitutional rights of freedom of association, freedom of access to information and ideas, freedom to depart and freedom from fraud and racketeering. 7) Make a full, public admission of the previous practices of scientology that have been illegal, immoral and contrary to the public good. 8) Make full restitution to all who claim to have been damaged by illegal and harmful practices. Submit to the combined arbitration of the receivership committee in matters of disputed settlement. 9) Commit a majority of the organization's finances and man-power to demonstrably improving society through established public service organizations that have proven they aid society, the needy, and the troubled. 10) Cease warehousing and indoctrinating children in "Cadet Org" facilities, separating them from their staff parents, and begin permitting parents sufficient time off staff (evenings and weekends) to provide a healthy family life for their offspring. 11) Cease segregating children from society and allow them to get a proper education so that they have choices about their future and can make informed decisions about participation in scientology. 12) At the end of the two year receivership, with the approval of a majority vote of all scientology's membership and staff, re-apply for non- profit status. +--------------------------------------+ Rev.
