And since I seem to be at a turning point in my struggle, I thought now might be the time to bring you up to speed and fill in some blanks. Excuse me for using headers. They make it easier for me to fill in the whole picture. Federal Case - After the scienos 7hour raid/violation of my civil rights back in1995, for quoting the Phatman without poodleboy's permission, my case has been on a slow track, and headed for appeal. Currently there are several summary judgement motions in front of the judge (that's where he can decide things without a trial, such a guilt). The scienos wish the incredibly slow-moving (except when it came to allowing the scienos into my home) Hon. Judge Ron Whyte to declare that they are the undesputed owners of the Sakrid Droppings from the Phatman and to declare me guilty of violating their copyrights by "excessive quoting." MoFo has a summary judgement motion on my behalf before Whyte declaring the Oatea Droppings as having been published, by reason of sale to loyal scienos and unlimited access granted to them explicitly admitted in the McSliem (Warren McShane) depositions. Morrison/Foerster is preparing for trial, which could be as early as next year. But don't hold your breath. inFormer Ministry - The ministry began right after I left the cult. Working alone I extricated many people from the cult between 1982 and '89, when I finally found the Cult Awareness Network and began publishing, with the help of a few loyal ministry staffers, "the inFormer" newsletter in 1990. In 1994 the inFormer discovered (and perhaps even partially invented) the internet and ars. The rest is net.history Work has now begun constructing the ministry's very first website. It will feature all of our corporate papers and our 501(c)3 application (which will receive IRS approval within 2 months). We have already been recognized by the City of LA and the State of California as a non-profit religious/educational corporation. In fact the ministry has become an official vendor for the City of LA, which, by reason of selling services and producing an event for the Mayor's Office, recently donated enough money to us that we could purchase (though only partially afford) a fine Hewlett/Packard Pavillion Pentium 2 computer, with which to set up the ministry and its website. Some very talented people are working dilligently, albeit slowly, on constructing a site which will reflect the many facets of the ministry's out-reach and educational programs, as well as plans, finances, programs, earlier editions of the inFormer Newsletter, future editions, resource pages, scheduled events, music, video, favorite inFormative links and support. As soon as we receive sufficient donations, we will be setting up a Hot Line number and getting the ministry listed as a resource for support and guidance in cult-related matters. Once in full operation, the first year's budget will be about $25,000, consisting mainly of basic necessities and publishing expenses. After the first year of full operation, the ministry should be self-sufficient. In the meantime, if you feel in your heart that you should assist in our work, and can do so without depriving you or your loved ones of necessities or entertainment, your tax-deductible donations will be greatly appretiated and can be made to: inFormer Ministry (CA non-profit corp # 2011733) 826A Fischer St. Glendale, CA 91205 818/247-0022 (not after 9pm) If you cannot support us, don't feel bad. The work will go on in any case, as it had for the years before we had the internet. My own personal, professional, prospects should be improving greatly a bit later this year. So, if we can merely make it through this temproary "narrow place", we should be able to push the ministry into existence without anyone's help. Of course, once the suit is settled, and I collect from the cult, the ministry will be looking at how to pay back the donations in some way, set up a non-profit internet service provider, and establish a half-way house for people coming out of cults to make the transition back into society. Thanks for your attention. And be well, Rev Dennis Erlich * * the inFormer * *
