I am a w/53yrold female suffering from chronic severe, treatment resistent depression for many years, this last episode is now in the 2nd year, I am on my third psychitrist. My current doctor is at Johns Hopkins and is well known in the field of mental illenss. If have tried every anti-dpressent known to man, I even had 7 ECTS last year, and they did not help! I don't understand what is wrong. I see ads that depression can be helped, but nothing has helped me. I want to feel better so badly, it's making me more depressed. I never go out of the house, or get dressed and most days don't get out of bed except when my husband takes me to the doctors or the hospital. Luckily I have an understanding husband and no children to care for, so sleeping all day is only hurting me. Does anyone have any advise or suggestions for me? thank you so much

Let me suggest this, go to an medical doctor to see if there could be anything physical that would be an probable cause of your depression. Seen like you when through alot of physchoasist treatment to at least make it more bearable for you but it isn't for you at the present, I suspect some chemical inbalance physcially that why I mention Medical Doctor. To keep you mentally and emotionally healthy is for you to think positive about yourself that you can lick this thing call depression. You and your husband go out for a walk in an quiet area and reflect on things that are pleasant. A little walk or hiking would help you bear it a little better. Keep on seeking conseling and seek suggestions that you think that would work on you. Depression will never go away but you can learn to keep you in bongage of your own home. Get out, do something that you think that you enjoy doing maybe you have tried but keep doing it. The more you do the less worry about your depression. That key word don't worry period. There is nothing to worry about and nothing to hold you bac from doing anything you enjoy doing. You can do it and other in the same situation that you are in could learn from you by your experiences in enduring depression. I had it as well as other that had the same symptoms that you have shake off this dreadful thing by doing things that were afraid of before are now doing it now like answering your question because I'm helping other as much as I can with advice I given in life experience. So have an healthy outlook on life and live well. May God Bless You and be with you in all the days.
