How do I tell if I am depressed. For the last few years I've just been feeling blue. Nothing seems to interest me anymore. I started feeling this way after losing a family member a few years ago and can't seem to shake it. I tried counseling but without much sucess. It is difficult for me to feel comfortable opening up to people. How do I overcome this problem.

Loseing a family member could lead to you feeling not soo great !! I know how you feel i lost my uncle over two years ago. I feel sometimes that life is never going to be the same , and in an essence it never will. You said you have tried counseling and it didnt work because it is hard for you to open up to a complete strange and I respect that. There is also antidepressant pills you could go on although those dont work for everyone and there are numerous side effects. If you feel you feel this way because of the loss in your then think positive the person you lost wouldnt want you to stop your life because he/she passed on. Try and go out and have some fun, maybe talk to a friend about how your feeling. I think everyone at one time or another in their life has experienced some depression, so they will be able to relate to you.
Good Luck
