Is it true that women with this disorder have a strong craving for sex during the mania phase of this disorder. I was married to this woman and it seem like when ever I pleased her she wanted sex. She made many irrational decisions. Leaving our kids at home alone. Being constantly irratable and fighting with me all the time. She might have even been promiscious. She spent her checks lavishly . She left me about 20 times in 3 yrs and I let her come back. she was gone for like a month each time. She refused taking her medication. She assaulted our kids occassionally and tried to suffucate our son on june 20th. Can u tell me if this manic depression will ever go away--like when she gets older or something--its like very unbearale living with her u know.

Everything you described is symptomatic of Manic Depression. I would love to say that it went away with age. However, only medication can relieve the symptoms. She must take her medication every day. Otherwise, she is not in control of her emotions or mood. I have gone through similar circumstances and have done things that I am ashamed of. The mania phase of this disease does make you hyper-sexual. Realize that this is a symptom and not normal behavior. However, if she does not take responsibility for her own illness, she is acting very irresponsibly Once she assaulted her own child should be enough to keep her on her medication forever. If she refuses to stay on her medication, then she is acting immaturely and not like a rational person. Every manic-depressive has cognizant periods in which they make a choice in their future behavior. It sounds as if she has decided to forfeit control of her mental illness. If I were you, I would give her an ultimatum regarding her medication. There is no reason she should be acting this way. In addition, there is no reason she should be putting your children at risk. Best of luck to you.
