Does anyone know of any support groups for post-partum depression in the Madison, WI area? Any other support groups for parenting would also be helpful. I am a mother of two that is suffering from post-partum depression for the second time. I have a 10-week old daughter and a 3-year old son. This time around, the depression is 100% worse and I'm scaring myself and others as to how horrible I feel and what I might do or at least think about doing. Medication is just not enough. Any advice would be extremely grateful.

First thing I would ask you to do is check with you doctor and let him know that what you are taking is not helping. Do you go to church? If you don't then you may not want to hear this but Jesus Christ has your answer. He can give you peace when there is no peace. I went through deep depression, and so forth after Viet Nam and for years I struck out at the loves I loved. Then one evening I ask Jesus to come in and take over that I can't do it any more. He did and I have been trusting him ever since. You should have others around you and people that will be willing to talk with you. What you need is someone to be truthful and not always tell you what you want to hear. Sometimes love is hard. They need to be compassionate, but truthful. We always, including myself want a wonder fix and most of the time it take giving of ourself in order to receive help. Try praying when you have these feeling coming over you. cry out to God, if you have to strick out at something use a pillow or something like that. Try to stay busy. And idle mind is the devils play ground.Write back, I'm here for you..
