Please experts, make sure you know exactly what you're talking about before you give a reply to a request for advice. An answer based on hearsay or opinion especially in this case is totally unacceptable and can do more harm than good. Case in point - the recent request for advice on ECT. If you are not a trained professional who is thoroughly familiar with this procedure or a patient who has gone through a series of treatments, how can you conscientiously answer this person? Please, stick to what you really know about. Nobody's an expert at everything. Just because you're signed up here doesn't mean you have to answer every post.

For the facts about ECT see scientology.com under the related link.
It is madness to cure anything by sending electricity through the mind of any living individual. That you think you're a professional because you have a degree in psychology is laughable. I ask every Psyche on the panel, who have you cured today? Who have you ever cured? I said cured not medicated beyond clear thought and rationale, but cured. Meaning the depression is gone and never to be seen. The answer of course is zero, and the fact that you know this and still feel compelled to bungle around in the human mind is a crime against humanity. I'll compare my statistics to a pychologist anyday of the week, with no fear and no apprehension. Forgive me if there is a sense of anger in my voice, the fact is you unknowingly destroy lives everyday in the guise of help. Not to deflate your ego,but it's time for a new career. you can't treat the human mind like you're jump starting a car! IT doesn't work that way! There is a reason why it's been outlawed in more aware countries and why it's heavily regulated today. Same goes for lobotomies! Cutting away the human brain!? Still goes on today people! People die by the thousands in Europe and by the hundreds in the US by the hands of these fledgling @#*$! Over 19 instituitions alone have been permanently shutdown in Italy alone, thanks to mental health watchdogs like the CCHR. It's funny that so many deaths go unnoticed, hidden by greed and pride. No , no it is sad. But I have hope, at least the government is slowly distancing themselves awy publicly and financially. Without the support of the government the field of Psychiatry will implode, and they will not be missed.

Note: I am a former psychology student who saw the abuse firsthand my second year of college at Rutgers University. I am disabused of the idea that Psychiatry is of any benefit to mankind. I am also a Scientologist and fully expect an attack (whether covertly or overtly) of both my religion and my advice. Expect to see plenty of ones doled out in my categories people, I'm outnumbered here. My only request, because the numbers are of little value to me, is that you still respect my advice as you've done in the past.

As a side note...this is a question board, not a statement board. If you don't appeciate my advice check that private box at the the top of the page and let me know. If you want to advertise there is plenty of space in Psychology today.

Many of my categories overlap,as you may notice. I have two literacy pages, that overlap with two tutoring pages. They also overlap with homework assistance,United States, and computer technology. As for why I'm an expert in so many things,I refer you to scientology.com. My abilities have greatly enhanced since college and I am profecient in a great number of things. Not everything is a category however. Shall I add Tennis, chess, communication, public speaking, drama, pool, swimming, marketing, advertisement,Public relations, history, bussiness relations, administration to my list? I'd never sleep. As for the defensiveness,my apologies,I've been privately attacked for my veiwpoints and your words echoed pscychological sentiments expressed by other self proclaimed experts. I quote another post here. Those I have advised always have a followup question regarding my advice, and good for them! They should be seeking 2,3,4 opinions before accepting the gospel of electric shock therapy. I am glad you believe in it's effectiveness,I am glad that it didn't render you speachless, I am glad it did not effect your emotional state ,your comprehension,or your memory. I am sad however that this is not the case for too many individuals. That is my only warning. Look before you leap into the arms of anyone's advise. This is your brain, respect it,treat it well.
I wish you all the luck in the world Good Health to you, Larry

Why do you assume I'm a Psychologist or a doctor? I'm neither, I'm a former patient. The very fact that my writing style has somehow convinced you that I'm an educated professional merely proves my point, that I've not only not been harmed but have in fact gained a measure or relief from chronic depression and can think more clearly. Also, who's attacking you? Why are you on the defensive? Why did you take my kind and simple request and turn it into a major philosophical debate about Psychology? Why are you such an expert at SO MANY things?????
