MONTPELIER, Vt. (EP) -- The Vermont Supreme Court ruled that
a lesbian may adopt her girlfriend's biological children.

The decision overturns a lower court ruling that prohibited
Deborah Lashman from adopting the sons of her girlfriend,
Jane VanBuren. "We are not called upon to approve or
disapprove of the relationship," Associate Justice Denise
Johnson wrote.

Similar cases are pending in Massachusetts and Wisconsin.
VanBuren's children are the result of artificial insemination.
