"The goal of the Global Assembly is to demonstrate women's capacity in
environmental management, the elements of leadership necessary for
success, and the policies which can advance or retard such efforts. ...

"Success stories in the areas of: environmentally friendly systems,
products and technologies; water; energy as it relates to climate
change; and waste will be presented.  Selected projects must be
repeatable, affordable, sustainable and visible; demonstrate that
environmental degradation was averted or reparied; and focus on women's
leadership and participation.  Selected projects will come primarily
from the grassroots.  ...

"In addition to SUCCESS STORY PRESENTERS, participants will include
MENTORS  and NEW GENERATION LEADERS (NGLs).  Men and women will be
intied as mentors.  These will include representatives from
foundations, academia, donor agencies, corporations, ngos, U.N.
agencies, regional institutions and development banks.  Mentors can
determine how their respective organizations can advance the
replication of successful projects and whether new or revised
guidelines are necessary to promote women in environmental management
activities."

"The goal is simple: Women--more than half the world's population--
must have an equal say when the fate of the Earth is being decided
before, during, and after the UNCED...Women must fully participate in
policies being made now and through the decade

"Women from all regions of the world will gather in Miami, FL....Women
will organize for a more active role in policy-making, strengthen and
expand networks and influence the UN Conference through an Action
Agenda to be used during the decade and beyond.

"The World Women's Congress is open to all: individuals, grassroots and
other organization representatives, government and legislative
officials.

"Plenary sessions will be conducted as a Tribunal with witnesses
testifying on successes and failures of efforts to maintain a helathy
planet.  The Congress will make findings and recommendations for an
Action Agenda that will be presented to a Summit of women heads of
gov't, UN officials and other world leaders.  The programme also will
include workshops and provide opprotunities for film and video
presentations, cultural exhibitions and spontaneous activities."

"The 1991 AWID Int'l Forum is the association's fifth convention of
practitioners, policy makers, and academics who are interested in women
in development.  ... This forum aims to mobilize the energies of varied
voices to create effective strategies of change on concerns shared by
women around the world, emphasizing the flow of experience from the
developing to the industrialized world, from South to North...dedicated
to featuring the vision and accumulated knowledge of people working at
the community level and enabling them to interchange on an equal basis
with their colleagues who work on policy formulation and scholarly
research.
