	  To KHS, re: YOur response to Donna.
	  I read your response, carefully, and I have been reading Donna's
posting as far back as I could get them. I am also trained in Anthropology
and Sociology too. I will just refer you to the history of three religions
for definitive proof of mans conscious work to subjugate women. Look at
the teachings of the Jews first, then at the way that the Catholics and
the rest of christianity carried on the teachings, then examine the way
that the muslims expanded upon that.
	 If you need MORE evidence, look to the mormon teachings as to the
proper place of women in the culture. These are simple proof of Donna's
contention, and mine, that women have been systematically subjugated by
men. Actually, I fail to see how you could miss it, but I guess that some
people are more forgiving than I.
	 Remember, religion is the working base of the "morals" of a culture.
How the religion views a subject will define how a culture handles that
subject. Current Judeao-Christian_Muslim views of women, like their views
of gays, are the reason for the presecutions and subjugation for the last
few thousand years. The roots actually lie in the reactions of the male
homnids to the facts that the food the women grew, and the animals the
women tamed,  made their place in the scheme of things (hunters) obsolete.
Plus, with the males lying around instead of hunting, more of them survived
and so they were finally able, through numbers and strength, to take the
leadership of the "tribal family" away from the women. It was not a quick
process, and spotty in execution, but certain in effect over millenia.
	  Patriarchial religions evolved to enforce this ruleing position of men
over women, instead of to mark the passings of the wheel.

Subject: Dykes in Natural Environment

My straight male friend told me he likes to hang out with dykes because
dykes are "safer."  Another lesbian friend speculated that some men just
like to watch dykes in their natural habitat, like birds.
	 I agree that straight men appreciate the women's viewpoint without
feeling like they have to relate sexually to them.  I also appreciate
getting the man's view on things without having to relate sexually to him.

To the woman who feels a declaration of lesbianism is "imposing" on her, I
say, tough buns, babe, it's perfectly relevant to a discussion of
feminism.  You wouldn't say heterosexuals "impose" their sexuality on
homosexuals by holding hands in public, would you?  Of course not.
