I have not seen any equality and justice in Islam.''
NASRIN ON ISLAM
Author and doctor Taslima Nasrin was driven out of Bangladesh
last year for criticizing the Koran, but the spark hasn't been
driven out of this outspoken atheist. At a U.N. social summit in
Copenhagen on Friday, March 10, she laid it on the line in regard
to Islam:
"It is true that fundamentalists oppress women. But I don't
know that Islam allows any freedom for women. I have not
seen any equality and justice in Islam."
The statement was made in reaction to claims by Moslem women at
the summit that only fundamentalism was anti-women, that Islam is
not.
