        Feds investigate attacks in KC area

        (Kansas City, MO) -- The FBI is investigating two attempted
firebomb attacks at abortion clinics in the Kansas City area.
        Both attacks came yesterday. One clinic suffered minor damage
when a device containing flammable liquid burned its roof. Two other
firebombs -- in a basket decorated with Christmas ribbon -- fizzled
before doing any damage at a second clinic.
        The FBI says the attacks appear to be related.
        The leader of a local anti-abortion group says she condemns
the violence.
        The owner of one of the clinics says he's stepped up
security.
