HEMET PICKET REPORT
It was Sunday May 26, 2002, and I was driving down the long steep descent into the California high desert town of Hemet and the nearby Gilman Hot Springs. It was a postcard perfect sunny southern California day. I took the alternate Highway 79 route through Gilman Hot Springs to reach my destination, Ida's Café.
I wound down the car window and was immediately hit by an over-powering stench of cow dung, body thetans and clusters. I could almost hear the evil ruler Xenu rattling the cage in his Mt. Helena cave. Xenu, His BTs and Clusters; a good name for a book on what I have described in court filings as the most evil organization on the planet; the Church of Scientology!
Earlier, I had read Tory Christman's amusing picket report of her Hemet downtown corner picket the previous afternoon. Not to be outdone, I decided upon an impromptu "Justice For Keith Henson Solo Picket." I parked my borrowed car in front of the Ashley Shaner Memorial and its adjacent Scientology surveillance camera. I only had one picket sign available. One side read "Scientology: Church of Fair Game." The other side read "LRH DIED ON PYSCH DRUGS." Taking the picket sign and camera, I walked past the ugly new Scottish Castle façade that is the secretative Golden Era Film Studio. (How could Keith Henson be convicted of "interfering with the practice of a religion" outside a film studio?") I wondered. Of course, that is no problem to the Scientology R.I.C.O. enterprise and its gang of sleazy out-lawyers. I described why in my recent paper entitled "An Introduction To Scientology's corruption of the United States Government and Its Legal System."
I crossed Highway 79 at the bottom gates into the Golden Era film studio facilities. Inside Church of Scientology management, the Golden Era facility is simply known as "Gold." It is also an "armed and dangerous international headquarters base for the Church of Scientology. Consequently, it is also known to management as "The Base." However, the only identifying signage is for Golden Era Productions.
There did not seem to be anyone out and about. Despite that, the bottom hillside parking lot was full of vehicles as well as a few motorcycles. There were six buses in the bottom parking lot on the golf course side of the highway. There were also a larger than usual number of cars there too. The six buses would have bought Sea Org staffers from the two berthing apartments within the borders of the City of Hemet.
As I slowly strolled up towards the main gates holding my picket sign aloft I noticed bicycles and mopeds haphazardly parked and strewn along the sides of the paths and roads of the Base on both sides of Highway 79. Perhaps they had been hurriedly abandoned? I thought this was curious. I had only told a few people that I might picket the Base. I did so from my home telephone 2-3 hours earlier. Moreover, the ARS announcements had been for a Saturday picket, which had only minimally materialized.
There was no point in shouting any messages. There was no outside audience. However, I did take quite a few photographs. The Guard House had two guards on duty. One in the chair. The other lurking behind the guardhouse. I stopped to take a few photographs and then proceeded further and past the partly completed staff apartments. They have stood incomplete for years. Occasionally a little portion of construction is carried out. My surmise is that the occasional work is done to encourage the staffers who are fed a "shore story" that the staff berthing construction on base must wait because of the Superpower building in Clearwater and the attack of the critics. The true story, I believe, is that DM wants to keep all of those staffers within the Hemet city limits. Consequently, scientology can expand its power through the local ballot box as well as remaining in the jury pool. They probably all vote absentee and as they are directed or encouraged. Voting as directed or encouraged is likely to be carried out in the jury room as well as within the ballot box. You know --- KSW 1, the greatest good for the greatest number of dynamics.
On the other side of Highway 79 it was a very different scene. Months ago the large new building on the hill seemed almost ready. However, except for the lighting of a small area at night, it seems unoccupied. In the front of the building major earthworks are taking place. The contractor appears to be bulldozing large mounds of earth into defensive berms. Trees are being planted and a long set of concrete steps leads down towards Highway 79. The adjacent large stone house that I have always understood to be Hubbard's looked no different. The mast and spars of the sailing ship in the desert looked shipshape. In fact, everything was very spic and span for the public tours that would commence at 3 p.m. Recently, Tory Christman was denied entry to the Sunday public tour. "We know who you are," she was told by one of Miscavige's goons.
On my return down past the guardhouse, because of my presence with a picket sign, the gates had to be closed, and two white passenger vans turned around and driven back into the base. Given their inability to "confront" a lone "SP" with but a single picket sign I mused with amazement that there can't be any OT powers here. No OT powers at the Church of Scientology headquarters base? But the Church of Scientology is unrelenting in its marketing and selling of OT powers to the public. Wow. Baited by engrams, switched to body thetans and denied the OT powers. "Such a scam," I thought. But then the location of David Miscavige's residence is a secret to public and most other scientologists, yet the rest of the world knows the powerful little man lives on the Base. It is much easier to try and avoid service of process there. Not a bad place for a gun collection either - as well as a certain 22-caliber rifle.
David Miscavige is said to suffer from asthma. Scientology has not handled that. David Miscavige; living proof that scientology does not work. Reportedly, and tragically if the reporting is indeed true, John Travolta's son is also living proof that scientology does not work. Scientology victims come in all age groups.
By now the old black scientology security SUV was driving up and down. It parked behind my borrowed vehicle as if to intimidate and threaten me. However, I had the license plate numbers and the two staffers wearing white short-sleeved shirts were very recognizable. Besides, I would leave when I was ready, because of my schedule that would have to be soon.
And so I continued sauntering down the highway. I continued to stop to take photographs. For example, I took photographs of the scientology eight pronged satanic cross above the rather odd and unused chapel above the highway. There was a constant flow of traffic and the usual honking of horns and high fives of motorists' approval of my picket. If the Republicans are looking for more California votes they should do something about this perversion of the words "church" and "religion."
I miss the old days --- Keith's presence would attract Richardson and other private investigators. He would already have had them frothing at the mouth by this time. However, having been there for thirty minutes it was time for me to go on into Hemet where I would meet my date for a very enjoyable social outing.
Hemet and Hamburg all in the same week. The previous Tuesday evening I had been in Hamburg, Germany at dinner with Ursula Caberta and a television journalist. We were only one block from the Hamburg Org. I excused myself and paid a visit to the Org building. I took a number of exterior pictures of the Hamburg Org and then stuck my head through the doorway for a few lobby photos. One of the Hamburg Org staffers followed me out with a disposable camera and photographed me while I stood in a friendly manner on the street. However, the second I started to photograph him he fled back inside the Org. Just another example of scientologists not being "at cause [over anything, let alone] over matter, energy, space and time." "How could that be?" I thought. Cause is another powerful condition being sold by the Church of Scientology. Then I remembered the advice of a sage, " You can always tell when a scientologist is lying. Their lips are moving."
