I finally was able to look at the scanned docs posted to a.b.s (thank you
LMT). While I really would like to be able to look at exhibits B and C to
Kobrin's declaration. But in the meantime, this was what I was able to
deduce.
When you look at the case print, there are several things that stand out.
First of all, the case print was done on Tuesday (9/12/00). The second
thing (in fact, it was the first thing that lept out at me) was the arrest
date. It is given as 7/19/00.
If memory serves, this is the day of Keith's "citizen's arrest". To
refresh your collective memories, Keith was out picketing when he was
arrested on a citizen's complaint of making terroristic threats. He was
taken off to Riverside (which I understand is 40 miles away from Hemet).
When he got there, it turned out that Scientology refused to sign the
papers, so he was "unarrested." However, nobody offered to take him back
to Hemet, so he had to scrounge a ride back.
Well, it turns out that *this* is the arrest that the DA is prosecuting. I
am simply *boggled* that this is happening now. How many times has Keith
been out to Hemet since July 19th? I would wager a dozen times or more.
If Scientology and the Riverside DA thought Keith was such a credible
threat, don't you think they would have arraigned him a long time before,
not nearly TWO MONTHS later?
Scn has been trying to keep Keith away from Gold for over two years now.
In February 1998, they tried to get a TRO to keep Keith from picketing
Gold--and were remarkably unsuccessful. (I was there and the judge was
peremptory in dismissing the case.) There has been the PI harassment he and
others have had to endure for exercising their constitutional right to
picket in front of Gold. There was that "citizen's arrest" back in July and
now we have "citizen's arrest II--the sequel".
This is so bogus. Helena Kobrin should be ashamed of herself for
prostituting her legal skills in this mean and shabby way. Have you no
decency, woman?
