AMICUS CURIAE BRIEF
CASE # HEMO 14371
State vs Keith Henson
My name is Arnaldo P. Lerma, I am a resident of the State of Virginia.
I was a member of Scientology's management body "the Sea Organization" for seven
years. While in Scientology I was financial manager for what is now Bridge
Publications. I printed Hubbard's books. I wrote royalty checks payable to L Ron
Hubbard which would clear through a Luxembourg account. In short, I know how
Scientologists think, having been one myself.
I have known of Mr. Henson, as a 1st amendment activist on the Internet, since
1995.
I have read the affidavits submitted by Scientology.. It appears that they
failed to get their facts straight, but this is not a surprise.
Scientology has a long history of suing its critics. And when the lawyers can no
longer sue, they try to fool state and federal Authorities, tricking them into
doing Scientology's work for them - to silence those who know how Hubbard's
trick is done. This is done in the same manner that Hubbard fools citizens into
believing his false promises and is how they become Scientologists to begin
with.
In August of 1999, there was another posting to this same news group, that Mr.
Henson recently posted to, which I, made a follow up posting to. In my case, 2
members of the FBI came to my home in Arlington Virginia.. The FBI Agents were
invited to come in and make themselves at home. They concluded, after some time
here, that they might be being manipulated by Scientology, and left, taking no
action. A few weeks later, I received a call from one of the FBI agents who told
me " we think the ‘anonymous report' came from 'the church'.
Scientology's history of these tactics dates back to the 1971 setup of author
Paulette Cooper. Ms. Cooper had published a book called "The Scandal of
Scientology", and was sued 19 times. She was also set up by Scientology
fabrications for making threats. Her claims that she was "set up" were not fully
vindicated until the 1977 raids by the FBI and IRS on Scientology's own
headquarters revealed a written plan called "OPERATION FREAKOUT" This was
Scientology's elaborate, choreographed plan to "simulate a felony"
The President of the Church of Scientology is currently under indictment in
Spain, for among other things "the simulation of a felony" - this being actions
and activities taken against critics in Spain, in an attempt to discredit them
and get them in trouble.
To be fooled by Scientology is how one becomes a Scientologist. Scientology
fooled me for more than ten years, don't let them fool you for ten minutes.
I hereby swear that the forgoing is true and accurate under penalty of perjury
of the law of Commonwealth of Virginia.
