"A private investigator who was apparently following a Scientology critic has been charged with assault.

"The charge, brought privately before a justice of the peace by Keith Henson, was validated Friday morning against Robert DelBianco. Henson, who is famous on the internet for his dogged pursuit of Scientologists, is living in Brantford after applying for refugee status from the U.S. here.

"The charge relates to an incident on April 29 when Henson alleges the private investigator hit him with a van after Henson discovered DelBianco had been videotaping him.

"DelBianco is to appear in court in September."
