Two million was the figure Rosen used before the bankruptcy court, but
that was a year ago, on Sept 13, 2000. That meant they had spent at
least $800k on the bankruptcy at that time. I am sure the figure for
the bankruptcy case is well over a million by now.
Of course the figure could be much higher. Last summer they had a
team of PIs in Tucson, and even Gene Ingram on the job on the east
coast. Given what they have spent on other cases, the total could
well be $3 million or even more.
Incidentally, my lawyers think there is no president for the court to
curb abuse of an opponent who is willing to spend 10 or 100 dollars to
cost you one. The same tactics were used in the tobacco wars in an
attempt to break the anti tobacco forces. It will either take a judge
who is willing to extend the court rules against abuse of process to
cover these rare but spectacular abuses or the legislature will have
to step into the breach.
