I first called Mr. Henson a heroic person on April 4, 1998, and he has remained a credit to the United States ever since. Whistleblowers are very, very important. We need them. Mr. Henson blew the whistle on NOTs 34 and it got Scientology a little upset, so they are trying to teach a lesson via the railroad. Scientology could crush Mr. Henson into dust and it wouldn't change the abuses of people and the law Scientology has perpetrated, nor the will of people to speak out about them. What is NOTs 34? Is it a criminal instruction manual? What is the theory and theology behind it? I've never been in the Scientology cult. My entire involvement consists solely of reading and posting to alt.religion.scientology. Virtually all of my information comes from things I've read on publicly-accessible portions of the Internet. I will do my best to give my own understanding of the situation. Anytime you see "[...]" it means I have edited out a portion of text. Let's first look at what Henson claims. Here is an excerpt from RTC v Henson, Apr 15 1997, ORDER DENYING DEFENDANT'S EX PARTE MOTION FOR LEAVE TO CONSIDER CONTENT CONTRARY TO THE RULES: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ [...] Henson also argues that the purpose of his posting is to educate the public and that this purpose overrides copyright law. See Opposition at 10:8-9, 11:10-22. He explains that "the posting was done in order to aid the public interest by warning the public against an unobvious danger of harm, established by a previous court order. [8] He claims that NOTs Series 34 is a "criminal instruction manual for the illegal practice of medicine, and it violates a Court order which expressly forbids Scientology to claim to be healing by using the E-meter." Henson suggests that where there is a matter of public safety involved, the concept of fair use should be extended. The limited commentary in Henson's posting does not reveal that Henson's purpose was to educate the public about the alleged criminal content of NOTs Series 34. Now, let's look at NOTs. In particular, does NOTs 34 make that claim? NOTs is a set of once-secret documents. Since they were placed on the Internet, they are now informally available to anyone. NOTs documents are instruction manuals for "auditors" trained by the cult - Judge Gesell ordered that E-Meters only be used by trained cult members. Each manual guides the auditor in the use of the Meter. The title of NOTs 34 is "THE SEQUENCE FOR HANDLING A PHYSICAL CONDITION". NOTs 34 says that a physical condition such as a stomach poisoning can be handled by using the meter to detect and remove the "BTs" infesting your body and causing the condition. Other documents make it clear that BT is a "body thetan." A thetan is the soul of a being who lived on one of scores of nearby member planets of the galactic confederation. Seventy-six million years ago, the ruler of the confederation, named Xenu, solved overpopulation on his planets by killing hundreds of billions of inhabitants. He froze their thetan souls, packed them up, and brought them to Earth. He blasted the thetans with H-bombs placed in volcanos, and he brainwashed them by forcing them to watch special movies for weeks on end. The dazed thetans we so deluded, they forgot about the godlike beings they are, and instead began to think that they are lesser things, such as rocks, trees, the animals on this planet, and so on. As an experiment, think of something. Get a picture in your mind of, for example, a cat. Now, what is the thing that is thinking of that cat? It is a thetan. YOU are a thetan. Your consiousness is that of the soul of a being who lived on another planet, lived for quadrillions of years, is godlike but has been brainwashed into fogetting that. You are not an Earthling. Your body is of this planet, but your essense is that of an alien. Your soul is a thetan from another planet. Your meat body may die, but your thetan will pick up another body soon after. Some thetans, like yours and mine, were strong enough to pick up and take control of a human body, but most thetans have been so deluded that they think they are body parts, objects, sickness, or mere thoughts. These low level thetans tend to stick to themselves and to the things they think they are. Hundreds or thousands of them have stuck to your body. They are your "body thetans." Some think they are your stomach, your lung, your left foot, things that make you sick such as poison... Thetans can even think they are abstract concepts, such as the cure for an illness. There are many thetans infesting you. They think they are various things, but one thing they all do in common is THINK. NOTs asserts that body thetans - "BTs" - think, and that thoughts can have mass. The thought of a thetans can have actual mass, physical weight. NOTs 22 explains the theory. The BTs think, the thoughts have mass, and that mass can impinge upon nerves, cutting off nerve impulses, causing such physical conditions as deafness, blindness, and catatonia. NOTs 22 asserts that physical illness can stem from mental disturbance. It says the true, underlying cause of most physical conditions is thought alone - the thoughts of the BTs infesting you. It shows that most physical illness is psychosomatic. The cure? Remove the BTs and you remove the thoughts and the mass impinging upon the nerves that were cut off. NOTs 34 gives the sequence for handling a physical condition. It instructs the auditor in use of the Meter to diagnose the condition of BT infestation, identify the BTs causing the condition, treating the underlying cause of the condition by removing the BTs, and verifying the underlying cause is gone by determining the BTs involved are gone. By continuing to audit with the Meter and removing all BTs, this will prevent such conditions from happening again. NOTs 34 gives eight steps which will handle any physical condition. Each of the steps involve auditing with the Meter to remove BTs from the patient's body. For stomach poisoning, the steps might go like this: * Find BTs who think they are poison and audit them with the Meter until they "blow" the body. * Then find BTs who think they are the part of the body affected by the poison (stomach) and make them blow. * After this, you audit and cause to blow the BTs which are thinking the body part is sick ("sick stomach" BTs.) * Next, you find BTs which think they are "cures for illness" and get them to blow. * Then you get rid of BTs which protest the cures for illness. * Then you get rid of more BTs who think they are the stomach, since blowing all those other BTs will uncover new BTs. * Then you get rid of more BTs who think they are poison who have thoughts about the stomach. * Finally, all this seems to foster a cluster-making ability that causes BTs to stick together in clumps, so you do some more auditing and blowing for that. NOTs 34 seems to say, to me, if you are poisoned, this sequence for handling a physical condition will take care of the problem. Poison is an actual example given, with dust, paint fumes, and bad food as other specific examples of physical conditions this auditing will handle. The claim in NOTs 34 is to handle physical conditions by auditing alone. The Meter is necessary in every part of every step in the sequence. It is impossible to diagnose the problem, treat it, handle it, and prevent further occurrences without the Meter. Judge Gesell ordered "that any person using it for auditing or counseling of any kind is forbidden by law to represent that there is any medical or scientific basis for believing or asserting that the device is useful in the diagnosis, treatment or prevention of any disease." NOTs 22 explains how BTs cause physical conditions, such as blindness, deafness, and catatonia. NOTs 34 explains how to handle physical conditions using the Meter. I believe NOTs 34 may indeed be a criminal instruction manual. My message has not quoted NOTs 34 significantly, yet it attempts to explain it in some detail. However, I am merely a layman and an interested person. I've compressed, summarized, and intertwined opinion with fact. Some facts may be wrong, some opinions biased. Though it may serve to get people interested, what happens after that? The people must have access to the original material in order to do what I have done - research it and form their own opinions. Short quotes, or relying on second-hand interpretations is not nearly enough, especially if you have authority to investigate. The core beliefs of the cult are hidden from the public and its own members. Only the highest level members learn the secret of the alien body thetans infesting us and how they can cause physical illness. Therefore there are many lower level members who simply don't believe that the cult makes claims of using the Meter to physically heal. It becomes very difficult to convince the public or the authorities of the illegal claims if many of its own members can say they have never heard or seen such a thing. It becomes necessary to produce documents in full to refute this and the operations of the cult designed to keep the information officially hidden. It takes a heroic person to act as a whistleblower in the face of a cult whose claims to fame include harassment of its critics by many means as detailed in its sacred scripture. "The purpose of the lawsuit is to harass and discourage rather than to win," says cult founder L. Ron Hubbard in the sacred scripture. And the cult takes its sacred scripture VERY seriously.
