Sunday picket report

In the interest of variety, we picketed last Sunday. It was a one-tape picket, but more exciting than most recent pickets.

Arel called while we picketing. Just we were ending our conversation I looked across the street to the org and saw a cop car drive up. We haven't seen one of those for a dozen pickets. She typed my report live into an IM window with Ida who relayed it to one of the open chat rooms. From that transcription:

"We have a new flyer that talks about the scam that they pulled about having their 8-story office building treated as a parsonage."

"Apparently the new flyers really got to them."

"For the first time in ages, we have 2 cop cars and 2 cops talking to Gregg, whom I can see from my location 100 feet away."

"I don't know how this is going to turn out, but they haven't handcuffed Gregg yet. In fact, they just walked back to their cars."

"And Gregg went back to picketing, I think."

"Actually, they haven't left yet."

"Gregg is still talking to them."

"The unknown picketer is still picketing and handing out flyers, and we have a third cop car that just showed up."

"No cops near me yet."

"I think everything is OK. This is a very long conversation that Gregg and the cops are having."

At 13 minutes into the picket Gregg out in front of the org and Bobby Hill came by 30 feet away "not is-ing" Gregg. Gregg was in his spiel about Scn committing criminal acts and our new thing about the tax scam.

Gregg was on a roll, "scientology is a criminal organization full of criminal people committing criminal acts like criminal harassment." (Sorry if it doesn't scan.) Isn't that right Bobby Hill? (Bobby is at least 30 feet away.)

Bobby turns around and comes back toward Gregg and points at Gregg and says," Don't harass me personally."

Gregg says "I can talk to you, I've got tape you harassing me all the time."

Bobby says again "Do not harass me personally," while waving his finger in Gregg's face.

Gregg says, "You (meaning scientology) stay away from my house." "I can talk to you, you have harassed me personally."

(Bobby) "I am reporting to the police."

(Gregg) "Go ahead Mr. Hill, I have hours of tape about you harassing me and lying about me in the street." By this time they are in front of the doors of the org. (There is overlapping talk.)

(Bobby) "I am going to talk to 52nd division" and Gregg says, "Go ahead, I have all of your other reports and they are lies too."

Val Hill is standing in front of the door and says, "Don't shout at me." Gregg says, "Oh are you going to cry now Val? Val, you know, you tell lots of lies, and I have them on tape too. Did you know scientology management does not tell the truth? Scientology management condones and conducts illegal activities.

Bobby Hill comes out and says,

"You cannot harass me personally."

Gregg: "That that's right, I have you on hours of tape, Bobby harassing me."

Bobby says "OK."

Gregg: That right, I am sure that talking to you is harassing you (sarcastically) Mr. Hill didn't you sign false affidavits, Mr. Hill at 52nd division which I have copy of? Didn't you lie to the police Mr. Hill? Isn't that public mischief? There you go sir (handing out a flyer).

Hill is now standing on the sidewalk calling 52 division on his cell phone.

Gregg now turns to address 3-4 curious bystanders one of whom reaches for a flyer.

"That's scientology's way of handling critics, they lie to the police. I have them on hours of tape surrounding me on the sidewalk, trying to drive me into the street, screaming and yelling at me insulting me, my wife and my family, my relatives, insulting the clothing I am wearing. Yet I address Mr. Hill for doing that and he calls that harassment. You know what, it's free speech Mr. Hill."

Hill had gone up the street while Gregg was talking to the curious onlookers He was standing near the dianetics doorway and started back toward Gregg as Gregg said "free speech"

Gregg: "If I say you commit criminal acts, Mr. Hill I am just walking on the street. I have the tape to prove it. If you want to call the police and lie to them again, it's called public mischief, Mr. Hill, public mischief. You know what, the last time the cops came they went away. You want to know why? You lied to them back then too."

Gregg goes back to giving out flyers a few second later he points to Val Hill and says,

"This woman here has lied to the police in writing on more than one occasion."

Gregg decides to make Val uncomfortable by feeding her paranoia. So he says

"I showed the police the video tape and they compared it to the complaint and guess what? They contemplated charging her with public mischief but didn't and you know why? I didn't press charges and you know why? She is a victim too. She has been programmed by them.

Gregg is now pacing by Val. "That's right, you're a victim. Do you know any scientology process that works as claimed Val? No it doesn't. No scientology works as claimed." Gregg has paced past her and is turning around to pace back. "No dianetics process works as claimed. You know why that's true Val? Because Buttnor tried to stop me in court."

(Gregg got a tip recently that several years ago Buttnor apparently tried to pull a fast one in the courts)

"They went to court to try and stop me. I didn't know about this until recently. They went to court and told the court that what I was saying was untrue. You know what the court said? No, what I say is true because I can prove it. No scientology process works as claimed. That Scientology management lies. That it condones, conducts and has been convicted of criminal activities. All those things are true Val. Why are you still working here? Have you no conscience? Have you no conscience?"

Gregg goes back to handing out flyers and walks up the street passing Bob Hill who is still on his cell phone. "What you want is foot patrol, Bobby" Gregg says as he walks past Bobby Hill "Call foot patrol. And we will talk about harassment. I've tapes of Peter Ramsey following me around here with a knife in his pocket and nothing happened.' (The police refused to take any action despite Ramsay's history of stalking and assaulting Gregg.)

Gregg goes to the corner. Bob walks back to the door. From the corner Gregg sees scientology thug 'Big Mike' leaning on the newspaper box.

Gregg calls back up the street, "You take Mikey here Bob, I got Mikey here on tape assaulting me. Four pickets ago he assaulted me, stole flyers, that's the level of your criminal activity, petty assaults" (addressed to Mikey).

Gregg's interaction with the scienopaths, including handing flyers to the crowd, and pacing 60 feet across the front of the building and further than that down the side, lasted all of 4 minutes.

At 20 minutes into the picket, Gregg asked some scientologist on St. Mary's street, "Where is Mr. Hill. Where is the irony of a man who screamed in my face for years complaining to the police when I ask him a simple question? By this time Gregg is back to the corner where he asks:

"Is he still involved in criminal activity? Where is Mr. Hill? Mr. Hill? (Gregg then sees Mario who is out washing the outside of a window. "Are you still not allowed to talk to me Mario? You still not allowed to talk to me? And you claim you are free?"

Gregg turns back to Bobby Hill. "Mr. Hill? Mr. Hill?"

(Bobby) "Stop harassing me personally."

Gregg: "You can always take me to small claims court you know."

Hill says his new mantra "Stop harassing me personally" about 6 more times as Gregg is walking back and forth.

Gregg goes into much detail about being harassed himself.

26 minutes in the first officer show up. Second officer shows up at 27 minutes into the picket.

28 minutes in, the first officer contacts Gregg. There is a long rap with the first officer about the long involved history of scientology harassing Gregg, his family, friends, fellow picketers, employers, etc. etc.

36 minutes into the picket and 9 minutes after she showed up, a female officer, starts talking to Gregg. This has to be seen on tape to be believed.

The long and short of the interaction was the officer had unique interpretation of the hate crimes laws unique in Canadian legal history. She proceed to try to intimidate Gregg by claiming that any member of a religious could commit any libel, defamation, assault, etc upon a critic and that was just fine, but the critic would be guilty of a hate crime if he talked to one of them about their criminal conduct or the criminal conduct of their organization.

Needless to say, in a few short moments, Gregg had made a mockery of that unique interpretation and she was reduced to threatening Gregg with arrest for disturbing the peace.

Gregg blew off her threats and the officer then informed Gregg that he was cautioned about his "hate crimes" activity and that caution was going into her incident report. Gregg's reply was to caution her in return about misinterpretation of the law, charter rights, and taking the unsupported word of lying street scum like Bobby Hill (Say OSA, give this to Bobby, so he can go and whine uselessly to 52 officers and detectives who are plainly sick to death of scientology's endless, useless, baseless six year litany of false complaints. The first officer didn't say much but was trying to call her attention to the camera focused on her. He finally got her attention.

We learned later from contact inside the police ranks (perhaps the hate crimes unit or the organized crime task force) that this officer, once she realized she was on video tape while threatening Gregg, had finally consulted informed agents about the nature of the criminal cult's tactics, reputation and absolute hysteria about peaceful picket (since May of 1997).

Gregg was assured that his actions were entirely within the law--and Gregg as the videotape to prove it. Again it has to be seen to be believed. But out of sympathy for yet another officer scammed the cult, we will keep this one under wraps if we can (similar to the Nov 1, 2001 picket where we got no less than 6 police begging us to picket somewhere else).

Despite the hubbub or maybe because of it, we gave out about 100 of the new flyers and 50 Xenu flyers. As the tape shows, the crowd was sparse. The record high temperatures were probably the cause, and fewer stores are open on Sunday.

We might as well picket them again next Sunday. For certain we don't want anyone (including the police) to think we have been intimidated.
