The quote which is my signature file below refers to two cult related issues.
The "man with a picket sign" is Keith Henson, who was portrayed as a terrorist in court by the cult of Scientology, the target of his information campaign.
If you think a court cannot be influenced by an organization such as Scientology, you should look at http://www.xenu.net/archive/events/henson/ and http://www.operatingthetan.com
Cult representatives lied on the stand, and the lies were unchallenged. Keith was sentenced to nearly a year in jail and, following a smug suggestion by the cult that he might not survive due to cult influence there, he fled to Canada.
If you are outraged by this miscavige errr...miscarriage of justice, I guarantee you'll be completely enraged by the other half of the quote, which refers to Scientology's incredible behavior following the WTC tragedy. While the cult likes to portray its Volunteer Ministers as a well-intended mission of mercy, intercepted emails from VMs at Ground Zero shows their true purpose in being present. That no authority has taken any action against them again demonstrates what depths you can stoop to in America if you call yourself a religion!

It's easy to get distracted by all the yammering on the newsgroup. Certain people have chosen to focus on what is really only peripheral to the big picture, and that's fine, as long as their noise doesn't drive people away who want to learn more about Scientology.
One of the valuable things about these two issues is they're recent. The cult can hardly claim "we don't do that any more," when their actions clearly demonstrate that they don't do it any less!
Happy surfing!
