I was talking to Keith earlier today and he told me that his mother
died on the weekend.
In one of my first conversations with Keith since he came to Canada he mentioned that his mother was gravely ill, and that he was uncertain if he would ever see her again.
Sadly, there is no longer any doubt.
Mrs. Henson was 89.
Keith, my thoughts are with you and your family.

Keith,
I too am sorry to hear you will not be able to see your mom. However, I am a strong believer that people can and do often communicate with loved ones, after they depart physically. So ~if~ you put up your antennas.....I bet you'll hear her. :)
May she rest in peace, and you forever enjoy the fond memories of her.
My best,

My Mom contributed indirectly to the historical record here when the cult picketed their house back in July of 2000.
"Today I heard from my folks. Seems that scientology has two people picketing them, and has had them out there on the road above their house for some time (it wasn't important enough to call sooner). My Mom requests that CoS either replace them or give them some better clothes. She doesn't mind the pickets so much as the ragged poor image they show in a fairly upscale neighborhood.
"Sorry Mom, the cults that dress better were all taken."
She led a long and interesting life, among other things researching the history of Prescott, Arizona and writing a book "Founding a Wilderness Capital" about it.
I would like to think the cult will pay dearly for keeping me from visiting my parents this last year and a half and not being able to attend either of their funerals.
Of course, had I been able to do so, the cult would have tried to disrupt them the way they did Gregg's father's funeral.

It is totally amazing. The cult could have sent you a letter promising not to send thugs or try to get you arrested if you had attended your mothers funeral and in doing so gained some public support...but they didn't, and by disrupting Gregs fathers funeral as well, simply showed the world how vicious they are.. then they bras about it. ... fangs dripping with blood and venom.
That has made them a pariah around the world, and now its WISE members are being recognised similarly. You mother and father, and yourself have earned a place in history by your stand against this cult.
Never have so few done so much, for so many.

Dear Keith,
I am sure that if your Mom has had such a son, she was a great Mom. Too bad, we have ages where our old parents let ourselves become older and older till we are the ones who'll die.
I fear that it's a very bad moment for you, moreover so since the criminals inuhuman leaders of the cult won't let you get to the burying unless you go to jail for the twisted bad cause they invented.
Wishing you the best in this sad period of your life,

Dressed like "ragamuffins" a mom's irony meter would suggest. The difference between humble church folk and financially drained Marcarb sport hunters is quite evident.

That is awful. They have not only made you a prisoner to your own freedom but to the birthrights of your parents.
Very sad that they do this regularly by various means of disconnection.

I also think that we have indirectly met both of Keith's parents over the times we have read here over the years. They are obviously very well-meaning people.
I found this recently:

While I have been lucky, and lived to be almost fitfy before anyone really close and important to me died, I have recently suffered my first great loss. It was completely unexpected and very sudden. So I can share at least a little of what you have been going through.

Indeed, stubbornness was endemic on both sides of the family. People more stubborn you will find kicking it out with the rear end of mules.
My mother's mother was a Lewis related to the Lewis of Lewis and Clark--which makes me remotely related to Daniel Boone, though I don't know exactly how.

Your mother now has her wings, Keith. My condolensces.
Wings Of The Angels
by Tim Chambers
A gentle wind blew cross the land Reaching out to take a hand For on the winds the angels came Calling out a mother's name.
Left behind, the children's tears Loving memories of the years Of joy and love, a life well spent And now to God a mother's sent.
On angel's wings, a heavenly flight The journey home, towards the light To those who weep, a life is gone But in God's love, 'tis but the dawn.

Keith: My personal sentiments for your loss.
Additionally, you have my deep empathy on being isolated, and not being able to return to her in her last days and hours, or to be able to attend her funeral because of the actions of vindictive $cienos.
My mother died 4 years ago. She was a declared SP by the Nashville $cn Celeb. Ctr. Repeated requests were made to the mother of my children to have her grandchildren come visit her near the end......and to attend her funeral in Massachusetts. That didn't happen. :(
Also, I was not able to return to KY to attend my daughter's HS graduation that same year (98') for the same reasons - an arrest warrant pending. My son's is coming up in next May, BUT this time, I will be there as "Mrs. Doubtfire" if they don't imprison me before then. :)
Take care,

The price Keith Henson has paid to oppose Scientology just went up again. When I see what this man has done and endured I am in awe.
I don't agree with everything about how he has gone about his fight, but I have a strong agreement with his basic issues with the COS. From years of his posts one can readily understand his desire for simple honesty and peaceful protest, and a repugnance of things like deception, intrusions on speech, incivility, and abuse of charitable purpose.
At moments like this, besides offering whatever condolances I can, I resolve to do more, to say more, to share more about Scientology in these same regards. I cannot reduce Keith's burden, but I can perhaps increase the impact of his intentions.

There are times when you have less choice than you would like. I am reminded of what Heinlein said about the character Sergeant Anderson in _Starman Jones_, "He ate what was set before him."

Add litigious abuse and I think you have scientology pegged.

Thanks to you and to all who wrote and/or posted. I appreciate your thoughts. If you want to increase the impact, give them a good picket.

My condolences, Keith. I'm sure your mom was very proud of you, and you of her.

Sorry to hear about your mother, Keith.

Scientology breaks up families.
Keith, please accept my deepest, if somewhat belated, sympathies.

Keith My heart goes out to you tonight. I am so sorry you could not visit your mother this past year. I am sure she understood . If I could talk with her tonight I would thank her for giving you strength to walk the extra mile for all of us. I know she was very proud of you .She had a full and productive life which you can remember with pleasure. Ida
